I just picked up a freshly rebuilt A518 and converter out of a 94 Dakota for $120. The trans is set to go into my 78 Fury. Has anybody used the kit from PATC? I have been searching for info, but can't really come up with anything. Is it a good kit? Does it work well? I don't want to be flipping switches on my dash. I want it to be fully automatic, but I also want to make sure the kit is worth $85. I was thinking about getting a factory GM vacuum switch from the junkyard, and just ordering the pressure switches.

The vacuum switch is getting real hard to find. The pressure switchs can be gotten at most trans supply places for about $6.50 ea. They are from a 350 turbo trans and come in a varity of pressures. I used 45psi for od and 50psi for for lock up. 1psi is equal to 1mph. I supplied the vacuum switch power from a toggle switch on the dash so I could kill the od when I wanted to. Most of the time I leave it on but for towing or racing I shut it off.

I've hear that about the vacuum switches. I figure I can just hit the u-pull-it and snag a couple. What do I ask for at a trans shop? Are they just universal pressure switches? I don't want to spend $85 if I can do it cheaper, and obtain the parts locally

Chevy turbo 350 3rd gear clutch switch (I think). Dacco and transtar carry them as should most any trans parts supplier.
