How do the KB Street Hemi blocks (water) compare to the World blocks ...?

Does anyone have any pictures of the street KB Blocks?
Experiences using this block on the street?

KB blocks look to have far higher rigidity [Not interested in Indy as they have different dimensions for pain rail etc.]

This is a wedge block, same as hemi, just a different head bolt pattern.

Note the billet caps and saddles cast into the block

Upper corners are much bigger, the little ones in the deck between the cylinders are just weep holes. One of them is for rocker shaft oiling, not used in my case.

ok thanks, the world block appears to have significant water jacket holes also in the top between cylinders, and oil drain backs in the deck surface lower corners.
Is this likely to be on the Hemi block?
do you know if the lifters bores can be pressure fed for lifter oiling?

KB looks like a very strong piece.

8 years on the street for me ,actually runs pretty cool on the had to put a sensor in the system so it would warm up on the street.

Darren
I've built many HEMIs using both blocks. The KB is a very stout block that can handle just about anything. KB's street block is really a racing block with water. I have a 1500 HP KB with a blower running for several years now. No issues.

The World block is good too. I like the fact that you can get the world block with lifter oiling and bushed lifter bores. You have to pay extra to get a KB block gun drilled and he sends them out to have that done. It's not done in house.

Street cooling is about the same. On the dyno the BTU extraction between the blocks is within measurement error.

Your decision on INDY is a good one.

Things to consider with any aluminum block:
* Cam bearings can move with aluminum expansion. Have your machinist pin the bearings. KB will do this for you if you ask.
* If you want oil to the lifter bores consider my above comments.
* Both blocks use the same sleeves so leaks like that are far gone.
* KB will install 1/2" or even 9/16" head bolts if you want.
* Run steel main caps. That's the way they both come but don't change that.

One final comment that shouldn't be overlooked. Ken at KB is THE BEST at customer support. He wants to get you what you want and he will stand behind his product. I bought a new KB block several years ago just after Ken added some new CNC equipment. The cut for the rear main was slightly off. Ken took it back and fixed it for no charge. He even paid for the shipping. Great guy!

thanks Rich, Yes I do have your book (2 as it turned out!).
The reason I am asking is that I already have a World Block which I can sell at the moment.
My engine isn't together yet has only been used for mock up purposes in the body so the interchangability of certain parts is important, like bellhousing (Chry pattern), starter with 140th f/wheel, Hemi engine mounts, Stage V heads etc. The engine will have peak HP of ~1,500, although it won't regularly be put through that, I don't want something that will break and durability/strength is important.
The KB looks much stronger from the pictures.
I think I will get a KB Block, get it gun drilled for lifter bushes and oiling, the lifter-bore accuracy will be very important to me so I'll ask about their tolerances on this. Like the idea of 9/16 head studs as my application is blown (F2), provided my StageV Replacement heads are for 9/16 studs or can be modified for them (i.e. drilled without concern).
I have a pan so the original rail dimension is important. Am running reverse flow Meziere waterpump so hope the block is also alright with this.

Any information, pictures, & experiences with KB water block appreciated including approximate $$ people have paid.

Also, can anyone confirm areas of dimensional or structural difference..? i.e.
I understand they don't have provision for mech fuel pump (doesnt matter for me), and the LH engine mount bolt pattern us different, no cross bolt for front mains(?), billet steel mains look stronger..etc, ...just looking for things that may be different from a fitment perspective..

Q: If you had the choice between an aluminium Hemi World block or KB Hemi water block, and strength, durability and std fitment of heads/pan/bell/ etc was of importance... which way would you go?

KB aluminum hemi block here. Been street driving and racing it for almost 5 years w/ no issues. No issues w/ heat either. I use a Griffin aluminum radiator (2 rows of 1.25" tubes), '03 Viper electric fan, and a Meziere electric pump that fits in a stock housing. Keeps it plenty cool in the hot and humid South Carolina summers.

you have to run either ele. or belt drive fuel pump also no provision for a oil pick up tube so will have tp run lines external to the oil pump i have the conversion motor mounts they fit really nice stock pan rails
