I'm building a 512 for a customer and i installed a tci rattle balancer that the customer provided, the bolts that hold the balancer together are hitting the stock timing cover where is slightly bulges outward. Has anyone had this problem? I'm thinking to just tell him to return this one and get a summit sfi one. I noticed that the summit one was slightly smaller in diameter vs. all the others. Any ideas? Am i missing a spacer?

If you left out the oilslinger by any chance that could put the balancer slightly nearer to the cover. But only the width of the oilslinger ofcourse.
Depending on how the belts will line up I would space it out a bit.

the thing is that its not slightly but enough to gouge the cover and dent it in... i'm not aware of any spacer that was required. I'm thinking of using another balancer and checking belt alignment.

Did you check with TCI to see what they say? Sounds like it's going on too far,Is there noticable wear on the crank and key? Stock timing cover?

good luck, john

brand new stroker crank, and yes, a stamped steel timing cover. the bolts on the back side of the balancer are gouging the bulged out section on the cover.
