As far as I know, I've owned a bunch of the early motors, the 1962 to 1966 B and RB (316,383, 413, 426W and maybe some early 440)had the same balancer AND TIMING COVER. The early timing covers have a straight timing tab, the 1967 ( I think is the first year of that change)and later ones(that are 10 degrees different in the location of TDC
) have a curved timing tab that shows 10 ATDC, zero with a hole in it, 5 degrees BTDC, 10 BTDC and maybe 15 BTDC on them. The pre 1967 straight tabs have zero, 5,10, 15 and 20 degree BTDC
I think that is accurate on the covers, the balancers timing mark is 10 degree different(closer to straight up) on the early ones compared to the later ones. if you have a after market SFI balancer you can cut the timing tab on the timing cover to make it show TDC any where you want it
same thing on using a timing tape, you can put zero where it needs to be for your timing cover
The timing tapes need a clear coat(several coats works better
) of hard paint over them to keep them on and prevent them from blowing off the first time you rev it past 4000 RPM
