anybody use these type of coolers on their trannys? i have a B&M supercooler with a fan but my tranny gets a bit warm the closer i get to the finals. so i was considering putting one of these things in the line back from the cooler on the way to the trans. in effect it should just act as an additional cooler but was hoping to get some feedback from those of you that have used these things.

Just thinking out loud here BUT if the single is just a open hole in there I would think that the fluid would run through the center(easiest flow path) and the fluid on the outer area would act as a insulator... the fluid needs to touch the alum to really drop the temp.... thats why a radiator has all the tubes to get the surface area... Would you put this before or after a tranny cooler?
was looking to fit this on the return line from the fan assisted cooler, my cooler is in the back of the car above the diff. Mr P i can see what you're thinking but i somehow doubt the fluid could just pass thru the middle without mixing with the rest of the fluid in the cooler. Loco, thanx for the offer but yours is too big for my application but thanx anyway. REB

These extrusions are also finned on the inside, so I would think there's probably enough surface area to do the job. Might not do as good as a large tube/fin type cooler, but I would think pretty close since the flow is slowed down and there is more contact time for heat to transfer.
I am going to use one out front in addition to the cooler/warner thing in my radiator. I'm not making 700+ hp like a lot of you guys so I would think it would serve me well.
For the price they seem like a good deal.
I also want one with -8 fittings on it so I can cool the return fuel to my cell.

I'm a fan of these, But don't personally run one. I think the added capacity helps a lot and they seem to be on about every dragster up here that consistently goes rounds.

wow thats huge dollars for that B&M version. i was looking at ones on E-bay @ $32.00. whats the difference between them besides how deep your pocket needs to be to buy one?

Size and Quality would be my guesses. That B&M cooler I posted holds 4 quarts of fluid. Its more like an auxiliary tank meant to increase capacity and offer cooling, rather than just a quick pass through heat sink.
But, without holding both, it's just speculation.
