i just had to replace my rear brake wheel cylinder due to it was leaking brake fluid all on the inside of my drum, my question is, the whole inside of the brakes and drums was full of brake fluid, i did clean all of the surface fluid off the drums and brakes, will this be fine, i mean the brake shoes were covered in brake fluid, do i need to let them dry out or do i need to replace them?

apparently it has been leaking for some time

thanks

so you think with them being soaked in brake fluid ,they will not be good anymore, that is what i was kinda of thinking too, i have not had the car on the road full time yet, only driven it for about 30 miles on the street, however, have been working on it for about 4years and the brakes were the first thing i worked on, apparently i got a bad wheel cylinder, i guess i wld be rather be safe than sorry

thanks for the input

They're not expensive, really no way to get the soaked in fluid out of the shoes.

Replace them.

Good choice.. As mentioned not terribly expensive & once they get soaked & allowed to stay wet for any length of time they will be grabby after that... If you get them dried off with-in a few minutes they are fine but that isn't the case here...
