I'll be setting the 440/493 back in the Charger this weekend and The car needs a new trans mount. The one in the car is swelled from a trans leak and even if it isnt bad now, once I stress the drivetrain some, it probably wont hold up long.
A friend with a 71 Challenger switched to a spool type trans mount some time ago. He used a red Urethane to improve strength, but it caused too much vibration. I dont want a cheap Chinese or Indian made mount. What are my options? I have a few other trans crossmembers here and I've thought of making a hybrid crossmember of the stock 1970 piece and a spool mount. I seem to recall that the mounts with the yellow paint were fitted with firmer rubber in the mount.

I prefer the spool mount with a urethane insert, never noticed any objectionable vibration with them but I'm not very fussy about such stuff.

When using the rubber spool mount I like to fill the voids with a high durometer rubber from a two-part kit.
