OK, how about a thread like ya see in the newspapers and magazines listing all the significant events that took place in the Mopar and Moparts world during the past year? It's early and my mind is a little foggy still but I'll try and list a few to get things started.
Bill "Maverick" Golden retired the Little Red Wagon.
MoparJamie/TX9Plymouth bought a heap more heaps.
The Moparts crew built a killer engine and made a great showing in the EngineMasters Challenge.
Dave Hughes stuck his foot in his mouth and nearly ruined his business over the EngineMasters Challenge.
The '70 Daytona controversy continued to show that there was no end in sight.
OzHemi and AZ_A12_Bee thought that they could take on the northern folks and win.
PrimerDust318 had to find a new home for his beloved chicken.
Prowler almost ate his beloved chicken for dinner on several occasions.
Mopars At The Strip/Las Vegas became the hottest new Mopar event.
The Mopar Pro Stock teams continued to disappoint us all while Greg Anderson cleaned house in Pro Stock.
Shirley Muldowney retired.
The Mopar Atlantic Nationals got rained out.
uNlawful's Challenger made it into the 10's and made the cover of Mopar Muscle.
The Aussie Daytona road trip took place and Dart_Girl made the cover of MCG with the Daytona.
The Hemi Ram commercials continued to be the best TV ads since the Dodge Sherriff Joe Higgins.
1BadLilCharger won the Pro Class at the Norwalk Chrysler Classic.
A much ballyhooed match race was to take place next year between MoparJamie/TX9Plymouth and MrMopar83...yeah right!
Bill Elliott won a NASCAR race.
Ryan Newman won more NASCAR races than anyone else on the circuit but wasn't consistent.
A '71 Hemi Cuda convertible allegedly sold for a million dollars but the deal was so clouded in controversy and involved too many shady characters for the story to ever be considered fact.
The Canadian indian reservation "wheelbarrow" '71 Hemi Cuda convertible was "restored".
The King Fish '71 Cuda appeared on ebay and created quite a stir.
Peelerboy "flipped" a '71 Cuda (the first time he ever did this) and a whole mess of people thought a cardinal sin had been committed.
A 9-second Avenger had a terrible wreck at the Milan Chrysler Classic and the folks from Moparts all chipped in to help out the racer and his family.
And here's the last one I can think of for now...
Moparts continued to be the best Mopart site on the web!!!
OK folks, there has to have been more. Add to the list! Here's to a Safe and Happy New Year!

Speaking of Bill Elliott, didn't he retire at the end of this year? Steff finally got his Hemi into the 10's as well...not to mention JericoGTX ripping off a 9.90 pass with his '69 GTX after it sat for several years. I did the impossible with the Mail Jeep at Silver Lake...does that count?

A few things that come to mind...
Chickens became the en' vouge pet to have, with Hippos closing in on second place.
Winter bashing has moved to an entire new level thanks to StrokedHemi's work
More Aussie Mopars have come over this year that I have been lucky enough to be a part of (2 more Aussie Chargers have just arrived )
Another Moparts Annual Car Show have happened, showing off the unbelievable array of cars and folks we have here!
I got to meet up with a bunch more way cool fellow Moparts members this year, and hope next year will will bring more cool visits !
Ton's of other stuff too I am forgetting about, but I am sure the year to come will be even better around here!

I'm still haunted by what if's concerning the Moparts Enginemasters motor. And I'm still in awe thinking about the people and talent that came together to make it happen. I still get a chuckle thinking about Randy Bolig being kicked out of cruise nite. (Randy, I'm not laughing at you) I'm still wondering what was going through Dave Hughes head. Terry Crow's project car, what can you say... it's everyones dream. And Onebadsuperbird's and DartGirls ultimate road trip.

Big Mopar doings for me this year include; Attending the 1st Annual Mopars On Ice show last June in Anchorage Alaska. Anchorage is over 2400 miles from me, so I earned the long distance award while averaging 11.6 miles to the gallon in my 440-6 powered '71 Challenger. This month also marks the seventh anniversary since I re-started the Challenger T/A Registry, it has been a lot of fun and I have made lots of great friends. 969 T/As currently on file, and they just keep coming in. Hooking up three T/A owners with broadcast sheets for their cars in the last two months too. Getting my new website up and running with help from fellow Moparts members Ken and Nick. Another awesome creation from G-Series and Pam should make this list as well, they have wonderful imaginations and the skills to make their visions come to life. My pal Kissalien FINALLY buying a Panther Pink Challenger after years of looking should make this list as well. Overall, it has been a great Moparts Year,to many, many more! Barry

I_Bleed_Mopar, yeah I meant that Dale sold the car! I used the term "flipped" cuz that was the term that was being used when Dale was getting hammered for letting the Cuda go to a new home!
Barry, waaaaaait a minute here. I thought you were IN Alaska??? That being the case, it's a 2,400 mile drive to Anchorage???

Hi John, Alaska is BIG! LOL I am just as close to Anchorage as Glenwood Springs Colorado. 2400 miles as the crow flies from here to either city. I live on an island, so we had to put the car on a ferry as far as Haines, then drive through BC and the Yukon to Tok, then down to Anchorage. The driving part of the trip was over 1700 miles. If you set Alaska down over the 48 contiguous states, SE Alaska would be in Florida, the Aleutians would be in California and Point Barrow would be in Montana. We could divide Alaska up three times and then Texas would be the 4th largest state. Barry

OK let me have at this:
Jan, trade '68 Coronet 440 shell for '78 Aspen SE 4-dr and '75 Ranchero, both run.
April: Dislocate Elbow from said Aspen, out for a month, kick car into corner and neglect it. Also get '85 Ram out and running
May: Recovering nicely, break trans in '74 Dodge, replace with one twice as bad, park car. Drive '81 Ram SWB daily
June: Build '85 Ram with a 400/auto
Early july: Drive said '85 Ram to Manhattan. End up home okay. Break the motor playing too hard, park Truck.
August: Get rid of 5 cars, trade said Ram and Club Cab plus extra motor for '70 Sport Fury GT. Trade '66 Dodge LWB for '77 Fury 4-dr. Change nickname to TX9_Plymouth
September: Trade Ranchero for '78 Fury A-38 Kansas Highway Patrol car
October: Drop 225 from '78 Aspen SE after unsuccessfully trying to break it. 318 Suspension goes in place.
November: find and put money down on '77 Volare Custom 2-dr post.
December: Pick up Volare, then am attempting to pick up found '78 Aspen R/T and '78 Fury A38. All in one week. Make resolution to not buy anymore after this unless they are parts cars.
So there, there are a few more details on my end!

Hey John, I had to do some online digging, but here are the top three states as far as actual square miles go. #1 - Alaska - 656,425 sq. miles #2 - Texas - 268,601 sq. miles #3 - California - 163,707 sq. miles And just for Oz, Austrailia is 2,941,285 sq. miles. My T/A has been in storage for a while, but I put 23,000 miles on it here - without leaving the island. Barry

Wow, until reading John's list I didn't realize how much I've missed! Guess I don't spend as much time on here as the wife claims I do!

I have trouble putting value on things so its hard for me to add things. Only things exciting that happened for me was my trip to Michigan for the Woodward Dream Cruise & Blackout 2003. I got a ride in Unlawfl's Challenger and my wife & youngest kid had a great time on our 1st family vacation. Hopefully 2004 will be more memorable if my plans come together and I can keep focused! ~Mike~

I saw alot of things that were extremely cool.
BBQ's getting bigger and bigger, meet-ups being a reunion of prior acquaintances, not just new people putting a name to a face. Cars going faster than you ever thought possible, projects that just blow your mind (DusterDave, 64Hemi, 572Jim and Stroked_Hemi just to name a few). Crazy long distance road trips. "Impossible tasks" (Enginemasters) that are somehow made possible. New board members who take the torch and continue the enthusiasm @ moparts.
If you would have asked me a year ago, I would have told you that going 10 seconds and landing on the best Mopar mag cover were dreams that were unlikely to happen. What really amazes me is the support everyone gives the other enthusiast, and how even in tight times, complete strangers arent afraid to open there wallet, or put a week of their time aside for a good cause.
A great 2003 if you ask me. Not without a few bumps in the early part of the year, but that seems to be an ever improving situation too.. Thanks EVERYONE!
Great post John!

Okay other stuff I just thought of. My breakdown. Man that was a bad time but you were all here for it and really truely helped me through some rough times! (Group hug) Okay, what else? Oh yah the collection of Mopar Jamie cars that have come, gone and are still sitting. And the offer Mark Nixon gave Jamie and then it fell through. Those were some big post also.....

Hey John, I tried looking online and could not find the size of the island, but I will guess and say about 25 miles wide X 40 miles long. It is called Revillagigedo, one of the early explorers named it after some dude he knew back home. Population in the city of Ketchikan right now is about 8200, with another 6000 or 7000 outside the city limits. Alaskan Moparts Trivia - Dart Girl used to live in Fairbanks, Alaska. Gary, We are all thankful that the three of you escaped that fire as well. I heard about it on the news while driving to work, and only a week or so after you sent me some much needed sunroof information. Moparts is definately a family of sorts, people helping people with a few old cars thrown into the mix. The cars bring us together, but the friendships hold us together. I better fix a quote too, I mentioned early in this thread the we could split Alaska into thirds and make Texas the 4th largest state. My sincere apologies to all Texans. The best we could do would be to split Alaska in half and make Texas the 3rd largest state. Sorry about the mistake. Barry

I also had a great time at the Gratiot Cruise. Bubba and his brother's family were very generous in having a bunch of Moparts members and friends over and supplying food and drinks for everyone. Ahhh the ice luge We also seen Steffs band that night, in a basement of a building on Gratiot that could be best described as a meeting place for illegal activities "very dark" A great time had by all, except maybe Murfman. I wonder if his hearing ever came back.

Actually I lived in Ft. Greeley Alaska which is about an hour or so outside of Fairbanks.
That particular Army base no longer exist. Nobody is there now..
I honestly can say that Alaska was the neatest place I ever lived. To say that it was a "cool" place to live is an under statement.

I recollect Hemi Joel putting the hurt on that GSX Buick ...that was too cool...
Thanks for remembering that MoparMal! That was the begining of February, and the start of a very memorable Mopar/Moparts year for me. The shootout was arrainged by Hot Teams Racing courtesy of Moparts Member John Botdorf.
Shortly after that the April issue of Mopar Muscle ran a feature on my GTX thanks to Moparts Member Randy Bolig.
Then in May I ran at the FAST race at Martin Michigan and finally got to meet Moparts Legend Unlawfl, ran a new personal best of 11.46, and made it to the all Mopar, all Hemi, all Moparts member final round! (Me vs Dudek)
For my June Mopar fix, it was Mopars in the Park, meeting several Moparts Members, seeing tons of cool Mopes, and meeting Miss Car Craft Summer Nationals.
Next the August issue of PopRod came out with a feature on my GTX, Plus at the July FAST race I finally broke the 125mph barrier, setting a FAST record at 125.6
Then in August I traded my old 66 Caddy for a 67 Sattelite convert, and had a fun trip to California to do the swap, spending a day at the incredible Pomona Swap meet while I was in town.
And I got to help tote a very special engine around, the Moparts Enginemasters entry; meeting Members QuickD100 and 1E2C in the process.
For September I made it to my 1st Chrysler Classic at Norwalk, and got to meet the whole Moparts Michigan Maniac bunch, and witnessed Unlawfl throw a donut 30' in the air and catch it in his mouth.
In October, besides meeting all the usual Moparts suspects at the Brisol Bash and then some, I followed up on a lead from Moparts Member 1E2C, and rescued a forgotten Hemi car. (it was posted on the board here as well as he told me about it when we met) It was a 67 Hemi 4speed GTX in a farmyard in North Dakota, it had been there for many years. Thanks 1E2C!
In November, Thanks to an informative post on Moparts, I contacted Chrysler historical regarding the IBM card build records on my cars, and found out that my RO23 car is the original "HurriCaine" NHRA SuperStock car! Then my My GTX somehow managed to pick up 3rd place in the Moparts online car show. (thanks)
Now for December my seach for a nosalgic hot rod to use my 392 Hemi in has finaly come to a conclusion with the purchase of a 31 Plymouth Coupe project.
Quite a memorable year!

I think the snowman post needs be mentioned here too.... Over 400 replies and it all started with three balls of snow, some twig arms, almond roca eyes and nose and a Go Wing. It ended with a few jabs at members all in good fun and we're all still friends lol. Imagine that?

Ya, Dave, You missed all the crap he had on his web site about the Moparts engine in the enginemasters compitition. Hughes was wrong and made a fool of himself on his own site. Maybe that thread is still here someplace, but is probably gone.

I'd like to say Thanks to one of OUR most Active members,JOHN(onebadsuperbird),for his really cool vintage photo's.I would especially like to give a [personal thank you] for posting the pics of the SuperCharger in mom and dad's driveway, which led to an invitation from Stven Juliano to actually drive a boyhood memory. I'd also like to thank Steven for his kind and very GENEROUS OFFER. This has been my first year here with Moparts and it's been a very informative one to say the least, and my own projects have been greatly influenced by Everyone here. Thanks to everybody for being a great group of people, Jeff Slaughter

It barely made it in the "this year" part of the thread (only a couple of days to spare! ) But sure was a really cool way to top off this year by having these 3 cars together and sharing the entire process with the board, and of course that a fellow member is giving the cars a great new home

Jeff, thanks for the kind words! Truth is that if it weren't for all the cool folks like you out here sending or giving me cool pics, I wouldn't have so much cool stuff to post! When I first joined Moparts in July, 2001 to defend the Mopar Nats when that whole ToyPar debacle was taking place, I had no clue what a fun place it would turn out being. I mean just imagine the whole concept of your dad bringing a one-off musclecar era legendary concept vehicle home for the weekend back in the day, the pics being posted on here 30-some years later and then the current owner,Steven Juliano, offering you the opportunity to take the now mega-restored SuperCharger out for a spin. Is that the stuff dreams are made of or what? Eric, sorry to hear of your losses this year. Life can be tough sometimes but with the extended family that we have here on Moparts, it can be a big help. Like you said about all the good folks who offered you help at Norwalk, there's a reason that Moparts is undeniably, without question, the best site on the web. Oh wow look! 70PlumVert made his 15th post today! Oh yeah, it's 70PlumVert's birthday today! Time to start a birthday thread!
