Been a long time since I did a streetable car so help me out with this. Do these pulleys look too close together. They don't touch but they are close. Is this right or do I have the wrong ones?

The other ? I have is about the power steering bracket? Is there a difference between A/C and non A/C power steering brackets. This one doesn't seem to line up

Your crank and waterpump pulleys are fine but I don't whats up with the P/S bracket- what is it off of? BTW your alternator goes on the other side of the bracket.

I've only had a few cars with power steering but haven't had issues with the P/S pump lining up and I always reused the P/S bracket and use the same alt brackets/pulleys you have to ditch the A/C.

The PS bracket is off a 83 small block A/C car. The Alt only fits this way. It's also the way I saw it on others cars

Year one lists a different WP pulley for small and big blocks.

looks just like what I put on my truck

my alt the same way

my ps is from the a/c pullys and brackets

the ps should line up with the groove closest to the rad
alt/wp on the 2nd groove on the crank

do you have the 8 blade wp to go with that pulley

it turns slower at idle than the a/c pully and 6 blade wp

I have no idea what WP it is. It was a crate motor we bought off another member.

So what PS bracket would be right for this pump in a 72 B body?

I have the same issue with my SB P/S pump bracket(s).

When you tension the belt by applying the recommened amount or torque to the bracket, the bracket rotates slightly and the P/S pump pulley is cockeyed in relation to the crank pulleys. I tried two different brackets and it's the same with either.

Maybe the center pivot bolt needs more spacers? I have to fool around with mine on Sunday and I'll LYK what I find, if anything.

I'm having a problem with the crank, w/p and alt pulleys lining up. I am not running p/s or a/c. These all worked on the old engine which was a 318, but I am now putting together a 360. I did get a new water pump, which is aluminum as the one on the 318 was iron. The aluminum pump is thicker and pushing the alt bracket out. Is there a different bracket to add, or do I need to swap out the pulleys?

What worked for me was adding the correct thickness of flat washers between WP pulley & the cross on the impeller shaft(4) & (6) between the crank pulley & the harmonic dampener to space them both forward plus a little mixing & matching on the alt setup until I was happy that everything lined up perfect.

The alternator belt doesn't look like it's srtaight. It looks pulled the rear and that won't work It must be straight or you will throw thew belt instantly.

I'll have to check that out. The pic was taken at an angle and not dead on so that may make it look worse

I can space it out if I need to

the tube spacers are diff size for alt and ps bracket and can be mixed up

I allways look for the long ones and cut them to the size I need to line them up

yes a better shot of the ps and bracket showing the whole thing

make sure the damper is all the way on the crank, seen that before too

ps bracket could be car/yr specific, but I have never had probs switching to the non a/c pullys, the pump has allways mounted the same

the iron wp are thiner and would need the right t chain cover and alt/ps brackets and the later non a/c pullys to change it over IIRC

if the ps brackets and pump are twisting when you tighten them....somethings not mounted correct IMO
