anyone had experience with one of these
on a 1994-2001 Dodge Magnum 5.2/5.9 V8?

Can this scan tool set 'fuel sync' ?

Can it do a cylinder by cylinder 'Power Balance' rpm drop test?
{advertises that it can do a power balance test on Ford OBD1}

This unit is on sale Friday-Saturday for $250

the reviewers don't like that it has a old fashioned RS232 Serial port,
but I have a Dell D610 laptop with a factory RS232 port,
and both a PC Card that adds serial ports
and a USB to RS232 converter.

Those cheaper scanners usually do not allow that function, especially if it is not allowing live data streams on OBD1 vehicles. The one guy saying that no scanner can watch live data on OBD1 is smokeing crack, I have watched it on several scanners. If OBD1 is a big deal for you then talk to your local snap on dealer and see if you can get a cheap used "red brick" scanner. They were my favorite for OBD1 and are very cheap now days, I can get them from my local dealer with many of the updates for $400-500 bucks. If I was buying one for cheap for the OBD2 stuff that thing would be the shiznaz! Probably would not set fuel sync but you could get it close enough lineing up the marks, they are not finickey, when I worked at the dodge dealer we saw a lot of lower ends of the engines going out so we replaced them set them by the marks and they were fine, I used the DRB scanners to fine tune them for the first few months and never noticed ANY differance before and after setting them, even stabbing them and not checking them I could get them within 10 degrees but never noticed any differance in idle quality part throttle or WOT driveability.

I had heard that the official Chrysler DRB-II could also retard the OBD1 Magnum V8 ignition timing by 2, 4 or 6 degrees.

I now see the DRB-II on eBay, perhaps from dealerships that closed.
What additional cartridges or discs are needed for year 1995?
