I am curious about the engine combo, I have a 493 which I still need to assemble and dyno.

I'll be talking to the owner later this week, so I'll see what I can find out. As I didn't build it. I just get to put it in. and fire it up

Can't wait to see the Dyno numbers Over 700 HP? Cool. I wish my 496 made that much HP.

Thanks Ken

And on a side note, today went well.
And with no issues it should be be back in the chassis early next week.

All the clutch components are in. Scattershield was already doweled so I didn't have to worry about dialing it in. And it's now painted and installed with all new grade 8 hardware, and I even remembered to put the block saver on.

Got the trans stripped and painted today. So it will be connected tomorrow afternoon.
Nobody had header gaskets for a big block mopar on hand.so they should be in in the am. But all in all , today was good day.

Trans was all scratched up and painted hemi orange. Which just blends on against the Vitamin C Orange floor pans.
So, it went from this,,,,,,,,

Wire brush didn't phase it, so I had to use chemical stripper to get it off

Hit a little snaffu,
Turns out the water pump housing is a 69 and older casting, with the heater hose nipples being the same 5/8" size.
Car is a 1970 and thus requires a one at 1/2" and one at 5/8"

Did a bit of digging and came up with a nipple with the 3/8" NPT size and yet it has the port size for the the 1/2" heater hose. Much easier then tracking down a new water pump hsg.

With a brand new water pump installed, all the pulleys installed with new hardware, upper and lower radiator hoses are now on with new clamps.

With a little luck we'll be mating the engine and trans back together this weekend. And be re-installing it all back in the chassis on sunday afternoon

This is the back side of the long block to show how the Indy Cyl. heads are oil fed.

Needing someplace to mount the MSD box became an issue. Away from major engine heat and/or any moving parts.

I had looked into installing it under the dash, but with it being a 4 speed car ruled that out quickly.
So, next logical choice was under the battery tray. And so I'm told will not be an issue with extending the units wiring.
