I am putting together a Big Block motor with a Callies 8 bolt crankshaft and a B&M solid flexplate. What do I torque the bolts to?
Thanks Mike

The Mopar service manauls torque specs. call for 75 FT. Lbs on the 1/2 x 20 crankshaft to flex plate bolts and 55 ft. lbs on the 7/16 bolts on the flexplate to converters If your not using the stock factory grade eight bolts maybe you should contact the bolt maker that your using and get the specs. they want you to use on thier products

The proper-torque-"police" are probably gonna me ....

....... but all I have ever done is use a little blue or red locktite and then give them a little smack with a rubber hammer using a wrench or rachet.

The service manual I have says 70 lbs. for 69-71 Hemi. Since you have an 8 bolt crank which is Hemi I would use this torque value. Also grade of bolts and thread lube changes specs depending on the supplier.Hope this does not confuse you ..it just seems there are so many different answers to a one simple question. I can't even remember what spec I used and I just installed a B&M flex plate on my 8 bolt crank 2 weeks ago lol.

Thanks Guy's. They are the 7/16 ARP Bolts. I thought they were supposed to be torqued to 80-90 ft. lbs. but it has been 2 years ago that I last installed them before teardown this year!

red locktite + what ever my 1/2 impact hitting hard for 4-5 seconds after being tight..
Never had a problem.
Id imagine this is one place where most dont use a torque wrench.
but Im diff from most
