I took the column apart on my 71 console shift cuda. replaced wiring and had it painted. I set the lock release plate on the column and hooked the spring up and I set the ignition lock over it and tightened the 4 screws. The ignition plate ends up skewed. The space between the 2 pieces is uneven. when I try to mount the can, the whole thing looks out of whack. I do not have a spacer or washer, so I am thoroughly confused. Am I missing something here? I have tried to put these 2 pieces on 5 or 6 times and they will not mount squarely. It was fine when I took it apart. HELP!!!

Bump...

hope someone can help, I rebuilt my Duster column shift about 2 years ago but for the life of me can't remember it unless I had it apart and looking at it.
