My son drove over in his 07 300. 26k miles. I heard it knocking when I walked outside. Oil level good has always had it changed. I was digging on the internet and found RC-F35-06 recall on possible # 2 rod bearing failure. his engine code is G. Anyone know anything about this and does it pertain to the 07s? It is worse after you get it hot. Any valvetrain issues to look for?

Kind of a bump for you. I have been looking at Magnums and have come across MANY 3.5 powered ones that sound like the engines are built of marbles, and all were "supposedly" low mile cars (50,000 miles or less). I asked here about it (general section), and apparently there is a cam issue with these? So much for "Get the 3.5 as it's a bullet-proof engine, avoid the 2.7 junk". None of the 2.7's I drove made a sound...

It's a low mile 07. Is it still under warranty?

Update, took it to Dodge, they called and said rod bearing failure. They would check for sludge and let me know if its covered under warranty. This car has 26k miles and oil changes done at 3k. Luckily I was to lazy to do it and had the local quik lube keep records. They called today and said no sludge and are looking into a new engine. Not happy but not as mad as I was.

I don't think the 3.5's have a widespread crank eating problem. You just got a bad one?
