That cam probably doesn't pull a ton of vacuum. It's operating range is like 2400-6200. I'm guessing it would like headers, 3200+ stall and 3.91 gears. I'd probably use a 750DP. I guess you could ge bigger if you plan on all out passes at the track.

w/o the headers you're probably leaving 20hp on the table. If you have a miss under load it's more likey to be something like a bad wire, coil, plug...maybe even a bad valve spring. Have you done a leak down or compression check? Do you know what cylinder it is?

no idea what cylinder cause it really only happens once your on it if you stay bottom seemed to run okay as soon as youd jump on it would just miss. Really bad every one told it was the timing cause i timed it by ear so i bought a light i was off 2 degrees so i set it and it still had the miss. The thing was the motor ran great when i parked it and then i had a problem were my oil pressure dropped due to a leaky fuel pump wich wiped out the bearings so i bought new bearings got the crank ground then went from a a resto mod mopar cam to a comp 484 was told my valve springs were good up to a 509 none of the springs are broke cant really do much with the engine untill the snow and salt get off the road in wi. how do i do leak down test? ill compression test it when i pull it in the shop after i do the exaust maybe ill go buy a new coil wires the wires and coil are about 6 years old but really theres probably less then 200 miles on it all

Check and see how many vots you have at the ballast, coil and battery, Easy to do w/ an automatic but not sure how you are gouing to do a load test w/ a stick. I had an issue like yours, ran killer out of gear, checked timing checked carb signal bla bla bla, it would run like doo doo and die once you dropped it into gear. Turned out I had a bad ballast, it was dropping the power to the coil way down.

a 750 vac sec (3310) or maybe one of the holley clones that has a better street part throttle metering system but the basic holley above is simple/dependable/foolproof.
