I have a '67 Fury III and I fear that the heater core may be getting ready to fail. I get this faint antifreeze odor in the car but no sign of leaking yet. The car has air conditioning and from reading my shop manual, the replacement seems different than my other '67 Fury without air. I also noticed that replacement cores for this set up are quite expensive. Has anyone here changed one of this type before? Any info and tips here is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
John

Refresh my memory-weren't you the guy in Weymouth that had the '67 Fury vert burn up on him?

Anyway, it's a double core as opposed to a single core. Easiest way to start is to remove the front seat-I'm not kidding! Then you need to start disassembling the hater box to get at the core-either that or just take the whole box out of the car.

The cores are the same as the aftermarket B body ones offered, but the piping configuration is different I think. I would remove the old one and take it to a old time recore shop and have it recored. At least them you'll know it fits.

My friend and I replaced the heater core on my '68 Newport Custom with Autotemp-it's no fun!

Good luck!

Hi Rob,
Yes I am the same guy. I am happy to say that my '67 convertible is alive and well. It took awhile but it was sure worth it. I have another '67 Fury four door hardtop which the one with the core problem. Thanks for the info. The photo shows the other Fury how it looks now.

Might pump it up to 15lbs & see if it holds. If leaking, bypass the core until you're ready to get on it
