i guess i am to blame for this stupid set up, i bought a console and steering column from a guy, i thought was b body, turns out to be a 66'c body, he told me to just take out the rag joint and it wld work, i really did not think this good idea, so this is my mess up, i have the old steering column, i guess i can grind off the column shifter and do some body work on the column housing and put the original back in, i have included some pics of my red-neck hack job,
You might be able to swap the upper column pieces from the floor shift C barge column to your original column .

yea, i agree with everyone here, i am going to find the right column, the brakes were down by me, the front end was done by frontend man, i may have 2 things going on, i am going to fix the column first, then i will take the car to a good frontend shop and get the frontend checked out for sure, thanks all the input, Moparts is the greatest, it helps to get advice from fellow Mopar people who have gone thur some of the same issues, once i get the column in i will post my findings.

Just put a wanted ad for the column in the B body parts wanted section. I'm sure somebody here on Moparts has a spare B body floor shift steering column.

okay, update, i got a b- body floor shift column in my car now, i posted a pic, that corrected the clanking sound that i had in the steering, however, i still have vibration when i brake, strangest thing, i cannot feel it thru the brake pedal, it feels like it is in the front end, did not have this problem before the restoration, i have replace the wheel bearings, brakes and brake hubs, and have a used set of magnum 500 wheels, i only feel the vibration when i hit the brakes, and the car has to be going at least 30 or 40 it is worst the faster i am going, if i am at 70 it is pretty bad, does anybody have suggestions on where to start to try to find this new gremlin, thanks

If you can't feel it in the brake pedal, but feel it in the wheel i would say its front brake related , Check lateral run out if you have rotors on the front or check the hub run out if it is drums . You said you replace hubs Why ? where did you get them . If you feel it in the seat of your pants (butt) then i would look at the rear drums or rotors for warpage or out of round condition . Also loose fan clutch can cause vibrations due to worn water pump .

during the restoration, i replaced all wear items in the car, i tried to get the front hubs turned and they were not good enough to be turned, so i got 2 front hubs from advance auto and also brake shoes and inner and outer bearings, i have also put a used set of mangnum 500 wheels with used tires, i do not feel any vibrations in the rear when i hit the brakes, it is all front in related, i was thinking either the hubs are bad ? it if was the wheels or tires, i wld have this vibration at all times, i only feel this vibration when i am braking hard only, it does not do this at a low speed brake or it is so small that i cannot notice, do i agree it must be a brake related problem, i am going to jack up the front in next week and spin the front tires and have someone to put on the brakes and see if i can see anything? i just replaced the fan clutch alittle while ago, however, i do not think this wld be fan clutch, it only happens at braking, the water pump is also fine

put a dial indicator on the hubs and rotate by hand to see what the run out is should be less than .005 inches . Also your terminology is confusing. Hubs + shoes = drum brakes Rotors + pads= disk brakes . Which is it ? did you replace uppercontrol arm bushings ?

i have 10 1/2 drum brakes on front, 1968 dodge coronet, i replaced the front drums with new ones from advace auto, replace the brake shoes , and the inner and out bearings, the front end was rebuilt with all new parts about 4 or 5years ago, only about 5,000 to 6,000 miles on front end parts, the only thing that was not replaced were the strut bushings. i have changed the motor from a 318/904 to 440/727, do not know if this wld make a difference. i do not have a dial indictor, can i take the hubs off and take them to parts house to have this checked? thanks

Summit has the dial indicators for less than 40 bucks , i would get one so you know for sure that your parts are good or bad . most parts stores barely know how to sell parts and you are going to take thier word for IT whether some thing is good or bad ? iwould not let the guys at any parts store touch my car with a ten foot poll! I have learned the hard way to fix it and figure it out myself = cheeper in the long run and fixed right !

First can your drums come off the hubs or are they still one piece what i mean is can the drums be separated from the hub center or due you still have to take the bearings out to remove the drums ? The reason i ask is because if the hubs are separate then there is a good chance that the hub centers are bent . This is because the studs that hold the drum on to the hub is swedged on and requires a special tool called a swedge cutter to remove(separate) the drum from the hub . if some one took a hammer to them then they most likely are bent .

when i redid the brakes, i just took off the wheels , i loosen up on the brakes from the back and the hubs just came right off, i went to the parts store and bought new ones, i replaced the brakes and put the hubs back on and tighten up the brakes and that is it, i have not had the car on the road since i did this till about a mth ago, i have not driven the car over 10 to 15miles at one time yet, i have maybe 30miles on the new brakes and hubs
the hubs came off without taking the bearings out,
