Looking for input on a Bird nose. I need a cone and have a few questions. Most of the originals that I find have been dinged, dented, smashed or have heavy rusting. How does a Gregory steel cone or the one from the guy down south, Jack ? don't remember his last name, compare with the originals. Is a guy further ahead to buy a steel repop vs buying a original that needs a little work? Can you tell a repop for an original?? Does anyone repop the Z braces in steel, or any other nose cone parts. uummmm that should hammer right out...... Dan

Ummmmm, not the tunnel turn. I was told he lost it at a VERY hi rate of speed on a straight stretch in front of the water works in Butler PA, LOL!!! I have the rest of the parts out of the cone and they look about the same . I think the only place I will ever be able to mount this in on my garage wall.
Dan
how bad is the rest of the car? You should put a sing under it that reads "Don't drive DUMB"

Everything I have heard about Jack McGaugheys work is positive. He likes to use Mike Goyette's headlight buckets. On the Z-brackets I am not sure if Jack is making them himself or getting them from Mike. Perhaps Mike will comment. Jack would prefer to have the car on-hand to fit everything up, but I am sure he will do it both ways. Gean Gregorys noses look very nice too but I don't know anyone who has tried one of late.
Are Mike Goyette's head light buckets made out of the original type material, or are they made out of something different? How much would a repo steel cone detract from the value of an original Bird? All my Birds are 440 cars, so it's not like I'm working on the holly grail.
Thanks Dan

Wow! That's got concrete wall written all over it! Awesome piece. I would PM Moparts member Myke Goyette, "Dayclona". He's going to know the latest regarding repops for wing cars.
I’m listening.

Goyette's buckets are steel.
As far as a repro steel nose cone, they are so nice that I do not feel you will take a big hit on value. If you still need more than one nose, I'd try to work a deal on getting them all done at one time.

Does anyone do a headlight bucket like an original? I have a total of 5 cones, not counting the yellow flat one. I could probably make 2-3 usable cones from what I have. Not sure I will be happy with them once I have the cars done the way I want them. If there was no other option I would go with what I have. But over the years other options have come up, that's why I'm searching this out.
Thanks Dan
