The last i heard R3 blocks are available, or the Ritter block. But yes, they are both in the 3,000$ range new

I'd check with RyanJ, he may be able to find you what you're looking for. I bought an R1A tall deck, non siamese block with bushed lifter bores, and a bunch of other machine work already done for a good price the other year...

I guess I must have stole my tall deck 48 deg R3 from Mancini's this year as I only paid $1800

Mike, I paid 1000.00 for my brand new tall deck, non siamese 59° block that I have. I just waited to buy one till I found one for a decent price. Be carefull though it was a machining nightmare that ends up costing a bunch of $$ that adds to the GOOD deal. I still have a little less than a new 3g block though with all the machine work included.

I currently have 4 nos X blocks and I love them, paid $500 a pop for 2 of them, $1400 for another and $1900 for the other.

The only thing I do not like about the X-ers is they do come rough and for the full run of machine work is on average 2k, which makes the $500 block deals doable imo.

However there is so much of a stock block look to an X block its worth it to some to have that look.

It was posted and true you can sit and wait for the right person to dump an R block and scoop it up at a good price and for that reason I ask why so many small block folks are still using production blocks.

Because I haven't found that "right person" to dump a R block cheap.

I'm building a budget TT deal right now for a customer...stock block, RHS heads, MegaSquirt. Should make 700+HP on pump and with a bit more boost and race gas we expect over 750HP.
I'll post results when I have them...I expect to dyno the engine first part of Feb.

How much HP are you thinking of building??

A turbo motor does not punish the block anywhere near what a radical N/A or nitrous motor does so you have a little more leeway in terms of the hp you can throw at it.
