I belive it's called a rheastat? This is in a 1967 Plymouth Satellite.

My on/off works, but the dimming feature is worn out. Can I just get one at the auto parts store and put my knob on it? or is there a certain part I need?

Thanks guys-
Gary

yes, just repalce the switch with a new one from napa..ect

your knob will come out and go in the other one

did it on my 68 dart and my truck

little button on top of switch you mash down and pull the knob/stick out

unbolt from dash and unplug it

plug in new switch, mount back in dash, push your knob/stick back in the switch...IIRC you dont need to mash the button going back in the switch

look it up for your yr/model car

Here's a picture of a generic switch and the knob/ shaft. Put the headlight switch ON before you push the button

Might see if you can access the rheostat coil & see if it has an open or just needs cleaning where the tang rides across it. If not, what Yancy said & a bit of dielectric grease on the terminals helps
