Rapidus, looks like you may be able to answer a question for me. Is the floorpan spot welded to the crossmember that the shocks mount to?

Nope, oddly, it is spotwelded about a million times everywhere else but it actually crosses over that crossmember without being spotwelded and spotwelds to the aft end of the back floor pan...getting to those spot welds is the toughest part of the removal...me and the grinder have been up close and personal in that area...

Thanks. The reason I asked is that I bought my car after a floorpan had been fitted and it is not welded to the crossmember. Just seemed odd to me but I guess I won't worry about it now.
Enjoy the rest of the holiday.

This car has extra special rust...it sat in an open pasture for over 20 years. The field rats moved into the trunk and with the trunk seal leaking it was a mess and add to that the battery had been moved to the trunk and was still in there all that time...luckily the right side frame rail is ok, same couldn't be said for the quarter, wheel well or trunk pan, floor pans are perfect, the rats REALLY liked the trunk area

Well if you ever get bored with working in the trunk, you can come help me lay under my dash and cut/weld to the bottom side of my cowl/firewall. The mice had moved in there too and did a nice job of clogging up the water drains for a couple decades or so.

Keep the photos comming, lets see the rest of the car. There's someone near me selling a GTX that has to be the worst I've ever seen, not a single panel is without some sort of work needed, and most of them, including the roof, is completely rusted out. I feel bad for the car since it's number matching 4 speed, white top, white interior, super track pac. I hated walking away from it. Oh yea, no build sheet and no fender tag.

Spot weld removal is fun - it gets to being like a sport - "come on you lil bastage, you can't hide forever"

I know, it's amazing...heck, yesterday I got so much grinding dust in my drop light that it shorted out and caught on fire...quite an event...me, air hoses, extension cords, tools everywhere and a burning drop light ...nice, real nice...I just keep trying to remind myself that I can't wait to get it back on the road...

The trunk of my 68 Coronet R/T looks just like that. I need to get back in there and finish it.

Take care,
Rick
