A nice shot just for you Doug. I think all three cars in the photo have been in this thread before. The middle car there is the one that just sold on the happydayz.com website. And the furthest car in the photo is my dad's old B5 blue 4 speed car. I wish I could find someone who had any info on that car. Figured it would be easy to remember with the red stripe and all.

I personally love the color combination on this car. R4 red, white stripe, black interior. NOw if i just knew if it was a 4 speed or not, i'd really be drooling over it.

Doug i was refering to the Second Daytona on the happydayz.com website. There is the one that has the 6 pac set up on it, and its V2 orange, black interior, automatic console car. The other is R4 red i believe, white interior, buddy seat, 4 speed. Its listed as sold also, called them and they said they had sold it months ago, but might be buying it back here shortly.

Did anybody else notice the ridge that runs the circumference of the nose on the clay model? Below is a highlighted version of the pic. I am no aerodynamisist, but I think this may have been an attempt to seperate the boundry layer of airflow from the hood and fenders, essentially creating a "hole" for the car to drive in. If this is what it was for, the car could theoretically draft itself. The boundry layer only needs to be seperated about an inch or two to make a difference, and I think it may have been entirely possible on the full scale car with this ridge. What do you think? Any other explanations/theories?

I believe it's just an ill fitting front cap. That car was built in mid '68 and had multiple front end treatments, clay and otherwise.

I finally got to go see my dad's old Daytona today. I took the afternoon off of work, and drove out to see the car. It was a pretty day outside so i figured why not swing by and take a look at it. XX29L9B409045 R4 red, Red interior, auto on column, buddy seat, rear defroster, am radio, white wing.
I had goose bumps when I called the guy and he said he would be home and be glad to show me the car. Opened up the garage and my jaw just about hit the floor. Not exactly as i remember the car as it was almost completely disassembled when my dad sold it in 1984. However 20 years later it has only racked up another 1,500 miles and shows 69,000. The car is origionally R4 red, painted a semi orange color now, with a white wing, and red interior. Still a beautiful car if I do say so myself.
I tried and tried to beat around the bush about him selling me the car, but he wouldn't hear of it. He said you name the price i'll sell it, and so i did, and he said fine. I was about to jump up and down, then he said "all you have to do is convince my wife to sell the car." she wouldn't hear of it, said that he bought her that car for her birthday 20 years ago off of my dad and that she won't ever sell the car. So then back out to the garage we went, and I told him if he ever decides to sell the car, let me know and i'll get him the money right away. He said deal. So that is my big news for the day.
