Anyone ever offset grind a OEM 340 crank? If so to what stroke? Thanks!

We have used 2 different ofset ground cranks,4340 and both broke after 250 to300 eight mile passes one on the front at 1&2 rods the second at 7&8 rod will not use any more of them will stay with the 4" stroke only
