Heres the carpet kit installed & trimmed. The kick panels/ vents and sill plates are in and done too. Vacuuming is definately next on the list!

I had some help today, which was good since its his car, or will be someday. We vacuumed the carpet, which made a difference. Then we got the seat belts figured out and installed. Although one of my shoulder belts is torn and chewed on. I was able to sew the torn part up, but can't do much with the chewed up part. Anybody got an extra one laying around? We also got the pass seat installed. I dropped the shift indicator lens that goes in the console...it broke into 3 pieces. Time to call American Parts Depot

This week I go the seats, console, and most of the dash installed. Its starting to look like a finished car again! All went well until I went to install the wiper blades... I put a scratch on both sides of the car thanks to the arm pooping off...

Heres the scratches , which don't look too bad in this pic I got some other little stuff done too. Cleaned and painted the horns, fixed some wires, etc.

Sorry about the scratches. But now that you have put a scratch in it, you want feel too bad about

No they are chips unfotunately. Oh well not much I can do about it now. The spring tension on the wiper arms is insane compared to a Mopars. In 17 + years of being painted I can't complain too much.

New updates. I was busy with getting my 69 RR ready to sell and playing with my 71 Duster 340, so I took a little break from the AMX.

I got the interior finished and all put back together.

I made sure all my wiring was correct under the hood and I got it ready to start.

I had to battle a few things trying to get it to run.
First was the fuel line and tank. Found a pinched hose going from the tank to the line, I replaced that. Still wasn't getting much fuel and what I was getting wasn't pretty. I decided to drop the tank and having it flushed out. So I hooked up a gas can and electric pump I had laying around, fuel supply system solved.
Second was the ignition system. Long story short I had two problems, a bad capacitor and it wouldn't run with the factory tach wires hooked up It took the better part of the day figuring it all out. But by yesterday afternoon I had it ready to go today.
I got it fired up and broke the cam in today All went well. I had to siphon the gas up twice to get the pump working, and can still taste it...blahh. I was amazed at the amount of birdseed and crap that blew out of the taiilpipes thanks to the mice that lived in the car
Next up will be and oil change, re install the tank, figuring out the wiring thats not working and then road test time!

I bet you will be very happy when it's done.

It definately will bring a long overdue sense of accomplishment.

Although I think the car will probably be slower than I remember it being 1989..

Car is looking great. I don't know how you can stop yourself from working on it. When they're that close it's hard to go to bed and not think about bolting in parts.

I finally drove the car today!! I put a bout 3 miles on her. Thanks to a member of the AMC forum for giving me the info to correctly wire the tach I was able to time it correctly. Plugged a few vacuum leaks, checked the lugs and got my sunglasses. She drove good. Until I popped the vacuum fitting off on the master cyl booster, where the line goes out to the manifold. All in all it was a nice. I forgot how smooth and easy the car drove, especially compared to my Road Runner.

Next will be reinstalling the hood and getting some much needed tires. Hmmm redlines or BFg's..

I realized I never finished this thread. Since May I've been busy with my Duster, my RR, and life in general. When I had time I was able to get some much needed things done on the AMX. I fixed the vacuum fitting on the booster, got new shocks, a new exhaust system, and new set of tires. I'm a little dissapointed by the exhaust, too quiet. Reminds me of how a stock big block 60's mustang sounds. That will change in the future The biggest change was the tires. The old ones were 25 yrs old, flat, bald & mismatched. Some new BFG's made a huge difference I just got back from a trouble free 25 miles drive. Snow's supposed to fly tonight so I took it out to wash it and a last drive before the roads get crappy. I'm pretty happy with the results. It runs and drives nice, handles well and is easy to drive actually. The only things I have left to do is to fix the non working gauges and rebuild the suspension. That and a good clay bar rub down and some wax. But its getting covered for awhile so I can concentrate on my other resto project, my 71 340 Duster.

Covered until I can take my old man for a ride in it, after all he did quite a bit of work to it to. Thanks Dad!

It looks great! I just love those cars. You will need to drive that thing come spring.
