Did all of the PS Hemis use a compacted graphite block? What should I look for when buying one? Are parts such as blocks and heads readily available? Where besides RJ to look for one?
Thanks, Mike Gray

I might be wrong but, I believe that the 5-cam bearing blocks were not cp and the nine bearing blocks were. When buying heads you must be careful about buying heads that are either cracked or that are running the smaller 10mm spark plugs becuase they are limited on heat ranges (especially if you are going to be using a power adder).Hope this helps, if you are needing some parts I have some for sale that are in excellent condition! Brand new 5-cam bearing block with 14mm plug heades and matching intake. Also have crank, rods , pistons. 2 cams, .937 lifters, rocker arms , and valve covers. I purchased everything from Dave Nickens with plans on running boost with this combo (block, heads, and in take). Make me an offer, these parts must go!

Thanks for the replies.
Jimmy, I know Matt Hensley who works for Allen Johnson.
I've always been a small block guy, just trying to educate myself on a possible B1-PSO, Predator or Hemi combo in the future.

If you are doing an N/A motor, than the PS Hemi is the best Mopar engine available. If you are going to be a doing a turbo deal, the BAE route is the only way to go. Parts are out there for the PS stuff, but, you have to be VERY careful who you are dealing with. The heads must have the 4 bolt stands, or you will be in "Valvetrain Hell" with the old 2 bolt stuff. I must say, almost 10K RPM on a 10.5 tire is kinda fun.

Get-X - Yes the 2 bolt stuff had a bunch of issues with "Flexing". I have the very last set of heads that Jeg Coughlin was going to use, and, although they are the most current casting, they still require constant maintenance, but, than again, ANY motor that is revving to the moon, must have a consistent, and hopefully, stable valvetrain.

I had heard that they had a lot of stability problems with the five cam bearing block which is why I held out for the nine bearing block. That change was supposed to have done away with a lot of shaft flex with the big springs that lead to a lot of the valvetrain issues they had.
No doubt the extra ribbing in the new head helped as well. I'm assuming they went to four bolt stands to broaden the frootprint and provide more surface area in which to spread out the load and help limit the movement.
the 5 cam bearing deal is good to about 9,800/10,000 over that is where they saw the cams go into the jump rope deal on the spin trons and did the 9 cam bearing blocks Roy told me that they arent bad on valve trian parts if you only crank it 9,500, its 10,000 and above is when they start eating valve springs every 5 passes my heads are like Marcs with the same stand setup with W/W rockers
also the springs are so much better now with PACs double spring vs the triples that can handle over a inch lift

So what material are the blocks made from? cast, compacted graphite or aluminum?
Thanks again to all that have posted.
