The rope seals must sit at least overnight in Kerosene? to soften them up for installation..!
And dont forget to trim any hangars sticking up, after the top seal in installed in the block..

I have always had rear main drip on every BB I ever did, not bad, but annoying. When I redid my Hemi, it came from MP with the anti-leak rear main bearing. I duplicated the v groove on my new bearing with a sharp chisel and a light touch, can't tell em from the factory ones, they probably do them the same way. Anyway, first rubber sealed BB in 20 years and a dozen engines, without a leak and over 7K miles so far. Can't swear that is the answer, but it costs nothing when building the engine. Mopar calls them anti-leak rear main bearing, maybe they are onto something?

Installed new billet aluminum cap.

The 440 source rear main seal cap needs to have .010 taken off of the height (where it sits on the block) to get the correct amount of crush on the seal. This is per 440 source. I don't know what brand you used but just a thought.... Good luck

I do have a new retainer from 440Source. This is news to me. What is the finished dimension height?
Just measured mine (from area where bolt sits is 2.980" (+-.001))
Does this measurement sound right?

Thank you for this information! I contacted 440Source- You are correct, the retainer (new billet) needs to be milled.
I machined .010" off where it meets the block, assembled with the viton seal (did not use rope seal)and pressurized with the oil pump today-- No leak! Thanks again.

Would of been nice if they had included that in the instructions. Oh well. I won't be buying anything else from them. All they seem to be are parts pushers.
