Friend of mine just found some old pics of an Altered he used to drive. It ran AA/G and some BB/G and I believe Fuel at sometime. It was based out of Columbus, Oh area at the time,,,'70-'73? Some of the 'senior' members here will probably remember it. He and a friend built and campaigned it in Divisional meets. It was featured on the cover of Marion County's brochures at one time. I won't give any names at this time,,see if anybody can remember the team and give any related stories! They later built another altered using one of Gordon Collet's old dragster frames that they shortened. It was never ran.

I love old pictures, Thanks for posting
Don't want to argue with your friend but he had to run AA/A or BB/A with the car if it was NHRA.

Could very well be,,I can't recall just how the classes were set-up back then. I was into Stock, Super Stock, and M/P back at that time. I may have gotten confused on the 'gas'/'fuel' topic. It has been a long time since we even discussed the car. He is no longer into racing at all. I do remember him telling me at one time, that they would hide ballast in the car for weigh-in some times at local events, then remove it after classification!!! These are the good stories of yester-years!!! They did some match racing with other altereds and gassers of that time.

Just talked to my buddy about classes he ran. He said they ran gas or fuel, at different times. They did run 'altered',,AA and BB depending on weight. I guess I was a little confused when he was talking AA this and then BB that,,gas this,,fuel that. My main purpose of the post was, to let others see what some of the older cars looked like and see if anyone remembers them. I had hoped some members from the Columbus, Ohio area would recognize the car and add some info to the story.

If you really want to see if you can find something out about the car, Google is you friend. From your Buddy, find out what dragstrips he raced at back then. It would also help to find out what sanctioning body he raced under. Then just start going though old drag sites and you might get lucky. Example of a site: http://www.us30dragstrip.com/main.shtmlThe problem is most altereds look alike. My guess is it got dissmantled as rules changed. Not a whole lot to them as they were built back then.

I saw Jerry go over the guard rail at Lakeland with that car around '73-'74.
