Jim - just trying to veryfy. The written sources that exist as far as alternator application are "ballpark" accurate at best and completely wrong in the worst case. I have been trying to get as many true survivor verifications as I can assuming the alternator is original to the car, of course. You get into early/mid/late 68 hemi applications and it's a little muddy. Thanks!

I checked with a few people with original cars....All (66-67)were verified with the 537 (as the standard, non-optional) so it should good to go with. I am interested in seeing what is on this car - If it still has its date coded original.

That's really cool stuff and great photos. Thanks for posting them, I would love to see more.

Regarding the points. My understanding is that the engine came a as a Complete unit (w/ dist) and was bolted in from the bottom. The only reason I could see a Factory worker putting them under the seat would be that the car did not run properly once the car was together. I'm not sure what the factory did in those cases but some of you might. I would think they would have had an area where the car was taken so someone could troubleshoot the problem. If the points aren't worn, then perhaps someone did put the under the seat to quickly dispose of them but I wouldn't think that would be too likely. If they are worn, then I would think they found their way under the seat after an early tune-up on the car.
