I'm sure if you offshore production and/or go with lighter duty parts that you could easily cut 1500-2K off the price tag. I'm also sure that people want junky stuff in their hobby car they plan to beat on.

I betting if someone really had to have the lockout it could be made to work..... But then I was able to put a 518 O/D in an E body without cutting the floor or crossmember over ten years ago & people still say it can't be done....

The factories have used "Waterglass" - sodium silicate - to treat porosity problems for decades. There are many variations of it, including one that for years was used to seal eggs to keep them from incubating. I was told years ago that every trans case run at one of the local GM plants was dipped to prevent porosity and the resulting leaks. Look it up in Wikipedia and you will be amazed at it's uses.

Would be nice if it worked for you. We used a version of waterglass on the farm years ago to prep eggs, and a gentleman that was an engineer for GM transmissions told me about them using it to seal their cases and other parts. Another version of it is what is poured down into the engines for the gov't car buyout deal.

To be honest with you, I think it would solve your porosity problems, but I don't know the lifespan of it, as if would it breakdown after 5, 10, 20 years and start seeping. I see a lot of (automatic) transmissions that suddenly have issues that changing valve bodies, solenoids, etc. don't fix, so another core is prepped and used. I wonder if it is a case of the sealant breaking down resulting in an internal leak between oil passages. While that failure would be an easy to check situation for a manual trans case - a few block off plates and a dip tank - it is a hard diagnosis for an automatic with all its passages. Food for thought.

There was not a price increase. Cost is set to be $4295.00 including shifter mechanism and linkage.
Thanks,

Thanks for the correction on that Jamie , I didn't have the time to go back looking for it , very reasonable price for what you are offering .

For anyone wanting to compare price on something somewhat comparable the Richmond Super Street 5 speed = $4,370.80. In comparable, I mean built in USA, good materials, etc.

And no, it is probably not a bolt in...

I have a Richmond 5-speed in my car and it's FAR from being a bolt-in transmission. Also add about $400 for a shifter and linkage, another $400 for a new longer driveshaft and turbo 400 yoke, entire new custom made crossmember and mount, cut and box your torsion bar crossmember, some sort of custom made speedo cable...the list goes on and on and if you can't do all the fabrication and welding yourself I would charge at least $600 to do the swap
Now take all that into consideration when weighing your "OPTIONS" for a 5 speed
Jamie has created the ONLY true bolt in 5-speed
Now all I have to do is save up a few grand more and I will enter the list to get one if there are any left

Yep, that was kind of my point. What I was also trying to illustrate was that for the hardware the price was in line with a competitive unit. The new Richmond 5 speed OD transmission has similar features, good materials, made in the USA and a similar price. Of course then you are back to the same old problem of getting a bellhousing, clutch, driveshaft, etc. to work PLUS cutting up your car.

We are finalizing fitment on the '62 -'65 B Body cars right now. Making a special tower for the shifter mechanism to allow you to use your factory shifter handle and console. This turned out to be quite a "project". However, I will say that doing our homework early has allowed us 100% fitment with NO CUTTING on any car we have tried so far. I personally think that is ground breaking! So far, we have confirmed fitment in '67 up A body cars, '66 - '70 B Body cars, '70 - '74 E Body / '71-74 B Body bucket seat cars and '62 - '65 B Body cars. Currently finishing our "run in" stand right now.

I have a '71-4 Bench seat B Body car lined up to do next, but I do not have a '63 - '66 A Body car lined up yet. This is the final body style that we need. Is there anyone somewhat local that would be interested in letting us do some test fitting? The requirements are that it MUST be an original manual trans car with the original floor in it. It also MUST have the original k frame arrangement with factory style motor mounts. PM me or call if anyone is interested.

I want to take a minute to thank everyone for being so patient. I know that we are way over our projected time frame here, but I just cannot release something until it is 101% right. (no that isn't a typo)!!!!
Thanks,
Jamie

Thanks for the update!
Stuck on adding the Hotchkis suspension and one of these in my Super Bee or getting a new Challenger.

ETA on these 5 speeds if everything were to fall into place right?

I'm not sure what you mean Rug Trucker. We have an A B and B/E length tail.

I wish I were local to you. I'm anxiously awaiting the availability of this trans for my 66 Barracuda and would gladly offer my car, but I'm not local to you. Hopefully someone with an early A will step up soon!
