I'll have to agree it is pricey. If it is something you really want, it's not so expensive.
Face it, nothing is cheap on a car and everybody wants this product for $750 installed.

Someone brings a totally unique product to market for us that requires no hacking to fit and some folks complain "its too much"

How much is a 500+ cube hemi? $20,000? $25,000? I can't afford one on my budget but don't begrudge those who can.

It is all good for our market segment and in the end helps us little guys as economy of scale starts to ramp up.

How much stuff is available now for us because the market exploded the last few years as the value of certain cars skyrocketed?

God bless Mr. Passon for sticking his neck out and bringing this to market.

No offense, but I think demand will far outpace the initial supply once these hit the market. I believe the typical buyer is going to be someone who has already put $15K+ into their car to make it a very nice driver or better, and wants to take that next step toward making it more user friendly on the road. If this does not meet your budget needs, then does a Tremec, or would that bust your budget, also? Granted, you pay more for better quality, and you can't have everything you'd like. I'd love a HEMI, but at $12K+, that'll never happen, but I'm not going to complain about how expensive they are, I'll just be happy with my 440.

It kills me how many people are saying this price is so high. The point of this transmission is to give us a better designed, direct swap 5 speed, as a better alternative to a Tremec/Keisler, etc.

Are you saying you won't drop the $4,300 for this, but will drop the $3,300+ in a heart beat for the other brands, not including the mods required to your car?

If you say your car is worth less than the price of the new transmission, than most likely nothing out there will meet your needs for price if you ever do look to make a swap.

What's wrong with us who do not have the time/tools/expertise to build our own cars picking up our cellphones and credit cards to get our cars done? I applaud those that can do everything themselves, and wish I could, too, but I can't, so AMEX it is.

You can do it for under 3k with other stuff i.e. your own tremec swap instead of the keisler joke, just have to be a smart shopper and know how to do things yourself...some people arent afraid to cut their cars

Overdrive to me only makes sense for cars geared for the quarter mile i.e. 4.10's and higher...Id love to see how soon someone would break even in gas savings after buying this transmission and putting it in a resto car with 3.23's or 3.55's...would take an awefully long time unless your are roadtripping constantly...although it must be nice to say "i have it"

I don't think anyone is bashing this peice, its gorgeous, and if i won the lottery i would own one...but realistically, it's out of the price range of most people- not all mopar guys are rich resto guys who can afford this stuff, alot of us are DIY hot rodders who save every penny they can without compromising quality

either way, very nice peice, would love to see some reviews and estimated power handling capabilities

You guys haven't seen seen my bathroom , circa 1965 , nevermind the tile that'ts falling off the shower walls and how soft they are .

I'll scratch to do both , I need the points on my amex , but a replacement for my truck will have to wait.

I disagree-

1) Perhaps "modern" cars (does my 1998 Ram qualify?) have spoiled me but I find buzzing down the highway at 3500 rpm both limiting and audibly annoying. And this is in a car with 3.55 gears.

2) Gas savings isn't an issue (in my case), it would be more about making the car more pleasent to drive so I drive it more!

Me too , I could care less about the gas savings , my car has 3.91's and I'm want to put 4.30's in it and still be able to drive it .

X3....I did an A500 swap in my car because 3.55's and 27" tall tires is still 3300+ RPM at michigan freeway speeds, and very fatiguing

want OD on the cheap? by an A833OD, and make sure you don't have enough traction to hook up.

i agree w/ some on the price - it is expensive, BUT (it appears that) jamie's reputation is second to none & stands behind his product. seems to be well-researched & well-built in the USA. it's also in line w/ other kits on the market.

dumb question, but i'll ask anyway. can these bolted to a new(er) hemi? is there an adapter for 4/5 speeds & newer hemis? my dream would be plopping a modern, fuel-injected hemi & a 5 speed w/out hacking up my car.

THis is where I'm going as well. If it accepts a small block bell, it will bolt to the 6.1.

x4

Anything over 2000 rpm on the highway seems more like torture (engine and driver).

The new hemis take a small block bellhousing pattern so any of the old 4-sp's and jamie's 5sp will work.

Yep.

Besides, some of the "savings" depends on how much highway you drive. I drive 28 miles one way to work, averaging 60-65 mph. I would love to drive my Duster to work everyday. Haven't done the math, but if 75% of my time is at highway speed, I would save at a faster rate.

My Duster isn't worth $4300 even if it is a 1 of 586 4 speed Duster 360s built in '74, but not having to cut the floor to put a 5 speed in is more than worth it to me. I have an R154 in my storage unit right now that I could swap in. Just need a clutch, pilot setup and driveshaft. If I didn't have to hack the center of the floor out it wouldn't be an issue, but I do and so it is.

I want one BAD!

Trying to find a place that will pay me $4300 for a kidney right now....

sure there's really no need to be sarcastic, and all for under 3k WITH cutting your floor (i dont care about the numbers game)

1500 for a used TKO
150 for a good shifter
250 for the bell which works with the stock mech. linkage and z-bar
60 for the T/O bearing
30 for the pilot
350-400 for the clutch
100 bucks for the flywheel
Speedo cable- make it from junkyard scrounging ( I did it)
Cut the floor yourself

thats a wopping grand total of 2340

I don't think I have to say more...and if you don't believe, do some research on the prices enough, and you'll see it can be done...just takes some time, patience, and getting your hands dirty
