Or get a used one. Or buy a new one.

IMO this isn't the place to piss and moan. That is why we have a GENERAL SECTION.

What i really like also are the smooth surfaces of the case.

Unlike the Tremec w/all of its ridges and valleys that can trap dirt.

One can even polish it for the show crowd! Okay, I know I know...fluff stuff for serious equipment; I'm just sayin....

all i keep thinking about, insted of the price, is how much i'm going to save in race gas and engine wear. it will more than pay for itself

I drove my demon 7,000 miles this Summer. A lot of highway driving too which, because of the 3:55 gear, meant reving it longer and higher than I wanted to. Also, the gas mileage sropped significantly at those speeds. The way I look at it, the new 5-speed will not only allow me to drive the car on the highway at a reasonable speed (most cars go 80 around here), but increase the mileage and reduce significant wear on the engine. I like to drive my cars (when they are road worthy lol) and I know in time it will pay for itself. Just my .02

i understand its expensive to clean sheet design something but at $4300 for just a trans it mine as well be $43,000 for most of us REAL people

for the average guy who actually builds his car with his own hands instead of his cell phone and credit card this is out of reach and out of touch with the market

not knocking the product but for me and im sure a BIG chunk of this hobby that price is

Is this the Chinese 5 speed? http://www.bangshift.com/blog/Bangshift-Approved-The-McLeod-M-800-5-Speed-Transmission.html

Guys from one of the local shops that went to SEMA said they have not started building those yet and are still looking for investors to fund the McLeod.

And nothing wrong with the price of the Passon 5 speed, it's in line with most other low volume products of the same nature.

Well, looks like its out of my price range for sure.

Its no doubt going to be a great product, and from what it cost to develop and build, I'm surprised his price isn't more. But its just way more than an average joe like me can afford.
I still need to finish my paint job, and maybe get some cool wheels. Looks like I'll just have to stick with my highway gears if I want to hit the highway.

Good Luck with it Jamie !

well said.

I would have suggested a strategy that would have had a lower initial price offering to get some units out there on the street, kept production limited to keep demand high, generate lots of positive press, work out the likely bugs on a few units, keep price target low for any off shore lurking competitors, and then slowly ramp up price, which most of us are use to, keeping the logic of buy now, rather then later at a higher price.

And with that being said, I saw it at PRI, and I'll likely buy one at the asking price.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

Congrats on bringing that trans to market. Yes its not cheap but for what you get I think it is worth it especially given the reputation of Passion products and services.

Nice product. Thanks for putting forth the effort (and risk)to provide this option. It is out of my price range but I respect the sellers right to ask what they want or need. If I ever decide to upgrade this would be my choice since I already have the 18 spline four speed setup. Good luck and I hope you sell lots and lots.

1968 Barracuda with a tired 727.
Car has a 440.
Would my driveshaft then have to be longer?

Jamie - Sorry if this was already mentioned but I did not have time to go through all the posts.

Have you talked about what kind of credit you will be giving for a working A833 in return?

This really looks to be an excellent option, and look forward to them hitting the market.

Please excuse the numpty like question, but - those doing the auto-to-manual conversion using this new Passon 'box will still need to install a 4-speed hump anyway, right? ('70 e-body is what I have in mind specifically).

Assuming the car was an auto from the factory.

Cheers!

Yes. You will need everything just like you were doing the swap using an original A833.

In order to do this conversion, the car will need to be in 4 speed trim. We have the parts required to convert the cars, if you need them. There is not going to be a blanket price for an A-833 trade in. Each core will be evaluated on an individual basis. This is the most fair way to do it. See the pics from the PRI show.

Thanks,
Jamie
