I am going to start gathering parts for my 68 Dart I am going to run in NSS in 2011. I will be using a 440.

My car is an original 6cyl car. Should I go with Schumacher mounts or a factory BB K-member? Is one better than the other for header fitment, engine placement, etc?

Also, whichever option I go with, do I want to keep my /6 torsion bars?

I've been into Mopars for a long time, but have never really had the $$ to mess with them much, so I don't have a lot of experience building an car. i'm sure I will have lots of questions.

I am hoping to get into the high 11's to start with, but if I am slower, so be it.

And as much as I want to, I cannot afford an aftermarket k-member. As much as I would like a BondoBob one, it's just not going to happen.

Thanks in advance.

Dennis

I would rather not join another forum and start searching through hundreds of old threads. I think that there is more than enough knowledge here, and there is probably a lot of overlap in members too.

My dart weighs 3450 with me in it now! It had a iron 440 in it when I got it but I'm about 100lbs more than the guy I got it off of so call it a wash about I guess ... Anyways he had a bunch of 11.60 slips and the engine was a stock stroke 440 with ported 906's with 2.14/1.81 valves! Solid cam specs unknown And about 10-1...the pistons were just flat tops and had a 950 carb/ and an old torker 440 intake on it... It won't take a whole lot to run high 11s with an abody ! I also run the Schumacher mounts.... Good luck

BigBlockDart is THE place for you!!! All they know is Big block A bodies. I am a member there too. In fact, I was there first while I was building my A-body, and now I am here for the racing end of things. The guys on BBD don't race as much as some here. You will find answers for about any question you might have about your build and get some personal experiences to guide you in choosing your parts. Not dis-crediting the guys here, but there are a lot of B/E body people here.

I fought mounts for a couple years in my dart. Andy F motor plate solved a lot of problems and also helps limit the frame twist. Also if you eventually go with an external oiling system you can cut all the mount supports out and have tons of clearance.

My brother lives in Livonia off of Wayne Rd south of Plymouth Rd. I made the mounts on his 496 Dart and he also has external oiling. If you want to go talk to him and look at the car PM me and I'll send you his ph number.

Go with the schumacher stuff, I used there moutns in a Duster and worked great. They will send you vital instructions on other things that will need to be addressed too.
What are you plans for headers? I also went with there headers, and they fit great. They are NOT a race header but fill the bill for a street car well.

Haven't decided yet, but I know I don't really like fenderwell headers.
