i bought a 68 polara hood from the junkyard, seperated it from its skeleton, cut it to fit my 47 desoto. i still need to finish welding it in(ran out of wire yesterday), make a shallower than original spare tire well, put an opening in for the fuel cell and add some supports underneath to hold the weight. buying a hood is much cheaper than buying new sheet metal.

Nice thing about using something like a hood is its already protected from rusting, except where you ground off the paint to weld it in. Gene

I might have tried using the center piece with the ribs for her pleasure... I mean strength.

Neat! I look at things the same way!

The sheetmetal I used for the floor in my Model A Ford came from an old dryer I found on the side of the road. I found a steel 1942 penny when I cut it apart. Who knows how many loads of laundry that penny had gone through!

Nice, I like it.
They say hot rodders are the original recyclers.
I have a 68 Polara that I plan on cutting the top of the rear fenders off and flipping them to use on the opposite side lower portion of my New Ports quarters. Similar crease down the panel just seems inverted from Chrysler to Polara. First I need to practice with the fire knife for awhile. Fun fun fun.
