The car just doesn't run right, seems like it's running out of fuel, slight hesitation going down the track especially top end. This is just a low compression 440, 750dp, runs 11:50's when it s running right. anyhoo, I just flowed the fuel system ,holley black pump, 3/8 line with an old school Fram filter, both lines out of the regulator in a gas can gets me 1 gallon in a minute, pulled the line before the reg. got 1.5 gallons, right out of the pump gets me a hair over 2 gallons. is this normal? according to the Barry Grant website I need 2 gal. per minute after the regulator for an 11 second car, I'm pullin what little hair I have left OUT! I also flowed it without the element in the filter with no change, and a freshly charged battery.

Try bypassing the fuel filter and reflowed it at the carb Those Fram filters where not designed to be a drag race filter , look closely at how the fuel enters and exits the canister top I know many racers that eneded up using two Fram filters to cure a fuel delivery problem before some of the newer drag race fuel filters where offered

1 gal per minute seems a bit slow, i was doing fuel flow tests a few months ago & my holley volumax 160gph was fllling a gal every 22 sec's & that was thru the regulator & i'm running thru a Fram filter too. aren't those Holley blacks suppose to be 140 gph pumps?

I would try by passing the filter. However how many seasons on the pump? Is it street driven?

I had this problem with my car a few years back and found a twist in the aluminum line that was restricting flow. Mine was where the line came through into the engine compartment. I installed -10AN line from tank to regulator and solved that problem.

There are small screens inside the inlet and outlet of some holley pumps. Are these plugged or restricted

The pump probably has 100 runs on it, but Ive been fighting this gremlin for a while, I'm gonna swap a blue pump off another car and try that. I bypassed the filter and still got the same numbers. I may try a relay if that doesn't help.

Then it sounds like your inlet line is too small. At least a #10 should be used to feed it.

Swapped in a blue pump that was a warrantee replacement for one that lasted 2 weeks and hooked it up to a relay and it flowed 1 1/3 gallons per minute. Gonna try a different regulator tomorrow, sure would like to go to the Nostalgia race at Bradenton this weekend with it

Do try a relay with the battery if it's in the trunk and use bigger wires. The shorter and thicker the feed wire, the better. Just make sure that it's wired so it all shuts off with the mandatory kill switch at the back of the car.
