Fellas - Need to add another tool to my toolbox. I have a valvespring tester that's used while the engine is assembled, but looking for one for the work bench. Looks like Rimac is the industry standard, but I'm sure they are out of my price range. I am looking at two. The first is an LSM for $400, which is more than I'd really like to spend - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LSM-Racin...=item5adc4d2ec5The other is the Proform 66775, which retails for $239. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Proform-V...=item56401cea86I'm not a professional engine builder, just a hobbyist who needs something to check springs a few times a year. Looking for bang for my buck here - good quality and accuracy without breaking my bank. I'd like to go with the Proform, but if it's lousy quality and/or inaccurate, I'll pass. Any thoughts? Thanks, Scott

Just found a Rimac on eBay that's in my price range. However, only measures up to 500#. I've got a few cars with roller cams and I don't think that will be enough to measure some of the stouter springs that I have. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Rimac-Val...=item35ad3d9e63

I have the 500# model and have used it to setup scores of hemi heads. It's all you need, I was gonna say, if your prepared to spend 4oo bucks, save your money and spend 600 and be happy. Those titaniman springs in the picture are largest highest pressure springs you can buy, 1500 a set. 350# on the seat.

Get the RIMAC and get the dial indicator on the side--you can buy one, use it for years , sell it and not loose much at all--a must have tool for engine building.

I also use the 1000lb Rimac. Longacre makes a nice one also.

If you would like to buy a used one call Barks Equipment 800-545-0545 and ask for Lindel You should also get a test spring to calibrate the tester. Tell him Martin sent ya.

You'd still have to get a press somewhere else though.
