I have a 68 Fury II that has it's original 318. It has 63,000 miles on it. It blew a head gasket in 1990 and sat and it stuck the rings. I pulled the motor and disassemled it. I got it all apart but broke the bottom of the skirt on the stuck piston. So....do I buy just one piston or spring for all new? It's going to be a daily driver, not a show car or race car. I want it to be able to drive for long hours cross country or just cruise on weekends. It is really clean inside and probably won't need bored or the crank turned. What comp ratio would you recommend if I buy new pistons and what would be a good cam to use. I will probably convert it to an aluminum intake and small 4bbl carb but otherwise mostly stock. I would like for it to make power up to about 3500 rpm or less. I havn't built an engine in almost 20 yrs so I'm rusty and need opinions. I do want to keep my original engine tranny combo. It's an auto with a 323 geared rear.

if it stuck the piston to the point where it broke it you are probably looking at a bore job, which will require new pistons anyway. If you can get away without boring, Id still spring for a new set. The cast Badger pistons can be had pretty cheap.

I broke the skirt taking the rings off, long story. Anyway, if I did bore it 30 over what would the new displacement be and would it be any HP increase?
