Can the MP offset shackles be used with production springs, or just the Super Stock springs? If not, can you explain why? This would be for an E-body, and from what I understand both production springs and super stock springs both use 1" bushings. I don't know if there is a need for a different length shackle or not.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Dave

Talk to Dr Diff about the offset pieces he makes.

Sure they will work with either type spring. SS springs need a longer offset front hanger is all. I have MP offset hangers on both of my cars with stock type springs that I got from ESPO.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the MP hangers are designed for the SS springs, which are 2" shorter than the stock springs. So the hanger is actually longer than the stock hanger. If you were to use the MP hanger with stock springs the car would be jacked up pretty high?

Here's a pic of a set I sold before getting a Dr Diff set that works with stock springs.

Oh I forgot, you have to use A body offset front hangers on a E body with reg springs. Good catch.

Yes, I know the SS springs have a 20" front segment, as compared to the production spring which has a 22" front segment for the E-body, which means a different front hanger is needed. The thing that I was unclear on was whether the rear spring segment was the same length (I think it is), and whether the rear shackle was a different length to account for spring arch or some other difference. From the responses, it sounds that the same rear offset shackle can work with either spring type.

I was puzzled by this since Mancini sells the MP offset shackle separately and lists it for "super stock cars". I called their tech line to ask this question, but as soon as I questioned why the shackle could only be used with SS springs, the guy hung up on me. Not sure what that was all about....

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Dave

You're correct, the shackle will work for either, no difference.
