hey everyone i need some help,i bought a universal radiator from jegs to put in my 70 charger, well the radiator fits but theres no room for the electric fan.im useing the aluminum water pump and housing with march pulleys, its got a solid alum plate that mounts on the radiator and the fan mounts onto that plate and that plate covers the complete core.my question is could i drill a bunch of holes in that plate that the fan bolts on to and mount the fan on the outside of the engine compartment in front of the radiator instead of mounting it between the radiator and the waterpump?

as long as the fan spins in the right direction , needs to blow air thru the rad instead of sucking if it were mounted on the inside it should be good to go , BUT if the fan is inside some type of shroud you don't want to put it in the front .

Post up a picture of your fan assembly .

a solid plate covering the core doesnt sound right, really need a pic,ive done a few b-bodies never had TOO much of a prob mounting on the inside.if you mount on the inside you want it tp draw, outside you need it to push.

I just used a dual fan setup from the junkyard and the space between the fans the water pump pulley fit into it on my 69 coronet. This picture doesnt really show it that well.

Mine's a pusher. Just made a mount out of angle aluminum stock that runs across from the core support and attatches to the fan on the top and bottom. I also have a shroud making up the space between the fan and the radiator.
