Domingo, these are what I've done for my car, the "hump" on the drivers v/c is what I've seen as the diffrence for 1970's hp v/c's, though I've seen restored 71's with the flat driver v/c - don't think either is written in stone per say, but later model 71's (like mine) I've seen with the humped v/c's - since I restored these v/c's and took the pics, I've also painted the grommets - they got painted as a unit - also the pcv's - Joe

What Joe said

Early cars supposedly used the 70 style drivers VC

I've also heard that the '70 style valve covers were used in early '71 engines and the raised hump appeared later in the model year. However, I also know that my brother's 09/17/70 Ontario built '71 GTX has the raised hump. I know this because the car has been in the family since new.

ALL those pics are awesome guys....thanks a lot.

I think my car has the original valve covers, only that they were chromed. They have the raised bump. I have a pic where I can see only the valve cover that doesnt have the oil cap.

I dont have the car with me, Rick Kreuziger has it at his shop so he has to confirm which style they are and I will post the build date of my car then.

thanks!!

Direct Connection put out a set of chrome v/c's with the hump, but I don't think they had the spark plug wire tabs - Joe

I think they were the DC race parts stuff - don't know of any chrome big block v/c's other than the 67 R/T GTX or the big block Dart v/c's - but I might be wrong...

Reason i asked is I think I have a set, they look just like the 70yr painted version but only in chrome. I also think they have a part number on the outside of the cover, I will need to look at them.
