The only two panels that I need to replace on my 69 Roadrunner are the inner fenders. They were cut into for headers etc. My paint and body guy said he could do it.

Question:

What steps can be taken to assure that when the inner fenders are replaced, the upper A-arm suspension geometry is not "off" or changed for the worse?

I'm sure AMD could tell me, but I'm also wondering if these panels include the section / provision for the upper A-arm to mount to.

Thanks for any advice or information.

If the structure is sound (just guessing it is because you're from Calif) then why not find a donor car to cut patches from and weld those back in?

Dan, Here is a inner fender repair job that I did recently for a fellow member as well as altering the shock tower. It is an early B body but still similar to what you are asking about. The control arm bracket is separate from the actual inner fender panel. It is spot welded around the outer perimeter of the control arm bracket, which itself is welded to the top of the frame rail. If it is just the inner fender that was trimmed out for header clearance then that is all that I would replace. Now if they went crazy and got into the A-arm bracket then that is a different matter. You can change just the inner fender panel without having to fool around with the bracket, it is pretty solid the way it is mounted to the frame rail and I wouldn't worry about the geometry being off. Good Luck! JC.

The inner fenders are sold (no rust) but they're cut up pretty well. Welding in some patches is a good idea...thanks.

I appreciate the responses, thanks!
