hotairballoonpilot OP master Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 5,664 South Dakota	I was on facebook (laugh here) the other night. My dad is second cousins to Al and his widow contacted me on facebook. Got to messaging with here and asked if any of Al's cars have ever gotten restored or found. She said that they have not as far as they know and would love to find one. She said Army Armstrong was working on getting theone they did afew years ago back out. So just checking does anyone know of any old funny cars that could of belonged or did belong to Al? If so let me know. I would love to let them know about them and also offer my skills of painting/body work to restore one. That would be an awesome experiance to have a hand in something like that. From his 66 Dart F/C with a 132 wheelbase, open cockpit and quarter roof, to this Charger III concept car (Chrysler's late 60s unbuilt answer to the Corvette) that looked like something out of Star Trek that he campaigned in 1970, his cars were often unconventional to say the least! However, by 1971 Woody had seen the light and joined the rest of the flopper crowd in conventionality dropping a Maverick shell on the Charger III chassis. Mustang followed the Maverick and a Mustang II took the "Dutchman" into the mid-70s. A legend in the sport, Woody's cars often end up on drag racing's "strangest" lists. These were taken 08/16/06 at Beaver Springs, in Pa. I was 16 or 17, but I remember it well. I thought it was really cool. I don't have a photo of that car, but here's one I found along time ago. A similar car. The Original 68 Charger: Driver Tom Johannsen bought it from Al in early 1969 and repainted it purple and ran it as the "Sour Grapes" car. Tom's son has a myspace page dedicated to the Flying Dutchman cars and his dad. Cab_Burge I Win C Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 43,172 Bend,OR USA	I remember seeing a red 1964 Dodge B body(all steel body, I think) with the top chopped off at Fontana Drag city in 1964 or 1965 with the "Flying Dutchman" name on it I thought it odd that someone would be crazy enough to cut up a new car like that Maybe the body was fibreglas, it was night when I looked at it and I was young(18 or 19 ) with no expereinces with fibreglas reproduction bodys Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
