I have an early-build '70 Challenger with performance hood. The engine call-outs on this hood are decals. Does anyone know anything about these decals? All other cars I know of had raised characters. I have not been able to find replacements for the build. Anyone know of a graphics vendor who might have these? I have already contacted Phoenicgraphix without success.

When you say early , how early ? What size engine ? All 1970 Challenger cid hood callouts are emblems, not decals on the J54 hood.

Well, from looking at the other post it seems some A66 cars did indeed come with 340 decals .
I did not know that .

Forgive my ignorance, but I am not familiar with the term "A66." This must refer to a specific Challenger configuration; is it the base Challenger?

It was the package code for a base model JH23 Challenger with a 340. The R/T's were JS23 and you couldn't get a 340 in an R/T.

Every 1970 Challenger 340 4 barrel car is an A66 car. Check your fender tag for the sales code.

If it is not there & your engine code is "H", I would love to see it. It seems they were a bit late to the game with these, it would not surprise me to see an early one without the A66 at this point.

I respectively dis-agree.

My former A66 car witha Dec 1969 SBD ( now sold) was still original paint and it had potmetal emblems on the original non-crumple zone hood

Correct. At the time I had a close, personal friend with '40 340 which had emblems. I don't recall having seen others with decals such as mine.

Since there are obviously more than one Challenger with decals, there must be some decals somewhere.

Has anyone looked into this being an LA car thing? We have an A66 convertible around here that had the decals.

Both plants. Not everyone with them has registered yet though, it would be nice to nail down an approximate date range for when they were in use.

If anyone who has not done so yet wants to register their A66 car, please note on the form if it originally had the flat hood, the J54 hood with the decals or the J54 hood with the emblems?

http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/register.shtml

With enough input these things can be figured out.

He mentions his vin# on the other A66 post.
( If folks are still looking for pix of the hood decal I can post some in a couple of days. I am original owner of '70 340, 4sp, built Oct '69. Now in rebuild, but has engine call-out decals. I need to find replacements. JH23H0B)
Showing it's a Hamtramck car. From what I've seen the very early A66 cars with the rallye hood had no call outs with the v-8 on the fenders. Then it went to the decals and the v-8 emblems stopped showing up, and around mid 11/69 it went to emblems. This is just what I have seen.

My A66 had the V-8 emblems but had been repainted. It had no hood emblems so maybe it had the decals. It was also a 4 speed.

I can have them made but It would have to be a good run of them maybe a 100 or more. They would be Three color I will check into it tomorrow. Might be kind of costly.
