I have a 440 block that I am trying to decode the information on the block pad. It reads F440 A 10 21HP. Can anyone explain these number and letters to me or point me in direction where I can find this information? Thanks for any help.

Next question: Is this a 6-pak block?"

is there an M code anywhere on the trans or oil pan rail VIN (if that even exists)? Or is there a P indicating Premium fuel anywhere? Dont even know if the 6 pack took Premium fuel. I dont think that info is always on the block, but T/A motors have this ..

I've seen several known 6pac engines that were stamped with the A indicating .020 oversize bore

The VIN# stamped into the oil pan rail would have to match a known Six Pack car.

Look on the passenger side, down low for the VIN pad, what does it say?

1970 car from the St. Louis plant, so it has to be from a B-body.

If someone stamped dashes over the last three numbers it may be stolen?

last 3 numbers I kept for myself. What would make it a six pack? I was told the engine came from a B-Body.

That as already answered;

The VIN# stamped into the oil pan rail would have to match a known Six Pack car.

The blocks are the same, so you would have to disclose the full number so people can check to see if they know of the matching car.

What would the numbers on the passenger pad next to the oil pan read for an E-body?

0B or 0E, it depends on the plant the cars were made at.

How would I know where my car was built by looking at the fender tag or VIN?

It depends on the model year.

For the 1970 model year as one example, it would be the 7th digit in the VIN & second digit of the engine VIN.

ie - G = St. Louis.

I have a B in my 7th digit in the VIN of an E-Body. What plant and what would the engine 2nd digit be?

B - Hamtramck.

5th digit is engine CID.
6th digit is model year.
