Are the Auto and 4 speed the same except top plates. Does anyone re manufacture them and are they good.

No, they are different. On the bottom of the side piece on the driver's side, the cutout where it fits over the trans hump is different. However, you can cut an auto console and make it a 4-speed, but not the other way around. Templates are available to outline the pattern for the cut. I don't have any experience with the repop consoles...

No the 4spd bottoms are notched to clear the floor hump.
You can buy the top plates no problem and I think if you search EBay you'll probably find a template for cutting your auto console bottom piece. Simple job.
