I need to order a pair of Cragars for the front of my 73 Duster, I have disc brakes.

I'd just order something but i had some old slotted mags kicking around, they are 14x7, 3.5" backspacing, and with a 235/60 tire, on a sharp turn the tire will hit the front edge of the wheel arc at the bottom.

I was thinking a 15 or 14x6 Cragar, with 4.5" BS would be good on a 215x70

what do you guys have?

Probably 3 3/4 to 4 inch will be fine , with either a 14 or 15 inch. Considering the 14 inch ralley and steel wheels had 3 5/8 backspace.

I disagree with the 15". 3 3/4 or 4 inch will not work with a tall 215/70/15 tire and 15x6 rim. You'd need a shorter tire. 14x6 with 215/70/14 and 4.0 backspacing might work though.

Typically 225/60/15 with 15x7 with 4.25 is about maxed out. I think 15x6 with 215/70/15 would work with 4.5 backspacing. 14x6 with 215/70/14 and 4.5 backspacing will definitly work.

i have on my 74 dart a pair of 15 x 7 wheels with 4 " backspacing and 215/60 tires and they clear everything ok but the tires stick out past the fenders about 1 " , which is a look i dont like.

thats odd, the 14x7s i had on temp. was 3.5 BS and didn't stick out with a 235/60

I cannot remember which corner hits that front edge, is it the inside of the tire or outside? I keep thinking outside but more backspacing almost seems to make it worse, almost doesn't I can't get my head straight

biggest size tire i can fit without rubbing is a 205/60/15 on 15 x 7 rim with 3.5 " backspace ,thats on a 69 dart with 73 up discs.
that said ,I am runnin 215/60/15 on it now ,rubs a little at front of wheelwell

thanks for the replies guys, really helps as I'm suspect of simply making measurements.
It's easier on the rear wheels, they just go up and down.
