I've been toying around with the idea of purchasing a used 2005 and up Dodge magnnum. Since the SRT-8's are going to be out of my price range, I was thinking of getting the 5.7 version. What would it take, given the limits below, to get it to run 12.20 or under in the quarter? I wuld really like an 11 sec magnum.

limitations:
-daily driver(start and run every day, summer, winter, creature comforts)
-no weight reduction (removing seats, AC compressor, etc)
-NO NOZZZZ....
-superchargers and turbos ok
-must meet NJ emissions limits
-suspension mods ok, but must not detract from cornering and braking
-include drivetrain upgrades if necessary.

can it be done? and at what cost?

AJ - AKA Hemituner is in Westbury Jeeps's HEMI SHOP

He does amazing stuff with them cars.

his personal car went 11.0's , still has AC, and got 22 mpg driving to and from maple grove

He just added a cage, but its still his daily driver.
He'll be running it at Atco at a rental in a few weeks.

got a fat wallet? S/C is about they only way to do it. Along with a Coverter ($800-1200) gear swap, headers, Diablo tuner is also a must $300...

I guess you could open the motor up and go with more cam, better intake bigger injectors but that stuff isn't cheap (like the blue oval stuff)

I have the K&N system, MagnaFlow exhaust and hit the computer with the diablo. So far the best time is 14.12 @ 97. (Mine is a heavy AWD Magnum) I think the 2wd is good for about 13.70 w/ the same mods. My main issue is how lazy the drive by wire is. It takes forever to get the car moving.

So, from that article, a stroked 5.7 should do the trick? how do those motors swap out in a magnum? out the bottom? What needs to get done to the ecu?

what I mean is UNLESS you are going to completely tear down the engine and do extensive work a S/C unit is the way to go. Either way it isn't going to be cheap. I forget the company but they sell bolt on S/C kits that add 100+hp for around $3800 and you get everything you need including the tuner.

I guess I should also ask how much hp is necessary to run 12.20 and under? and will a "100 hp" supercharger do the job?

That and a converter might. If you have a Mopar Action magazine you will see adds for the converter. They claim w/ the convert alone you will drop a full half second off the et. So you take a 13.70 car to 13.20 and then add 100+ hp and you should be in the low 12 second range. And that's w/ 3.06 gears or are the 3.07?
