... four (4) boxes from Porter Racing Heads containing my Victors, my Stage VIs and some parts.

Dwayne milled the Victors' chamber & intake surfaces to fix the scratches from when I effed up and let one of them fall over. The chambers ended up at 76.0 cc (+/-) after all was said and done, although I was originally hoping to keep them up at 78, like the Stage VIs are, so as to not change the CR.

I had him freshen up the Stage VIs while they were off, even though I might have been able to just re-lap the valves and run them otherwise "as is". The seats & valves just needed a touch-up, so they're ready for whatever the future holds for them.

Dwayne also tested each head on his Saenz 600 flow bench so we could see how my lil' SF-110 w/ correction factors for 28" pressure compared to a "real" bench that pulls that much on its own. I don't have his detailed test results, yet, (they're in the letter being mailed w/ the invoice) but he said the #s were very close for both heads, like w/in 4-5 cfm peak. The key differences showed up w/ the Victors, where they were significantly better in the .200-.400" range on the 600 bench than on mine. Also, the Victor exhaust port showed better on the 600 than the Stage VI, even though on my 110 they were very close.

The other "goodies" that came were springs / retainers / locks / spring seats to set up the Victors for the new roller cam.

It looks like I've got just about all the parts needed to reassemble the 452 and complete the 448 short block. Now it's a matter of finding enough time to do all the necessary prep work, machine work like porting & milling an intake manifold, and then final assembly. It's progress, but slow...

I love the big brown truck too........makes ya feel like a kid again and gives us something to do. I`m glad you stepped up to the roller and you won`t be dissapointed. I must say that Isky rollers are tuff muthas and only two of mine were on their way out after several thousand street miles and a couple hundred passes. I too thaught about just lapping my valves but no way that would of worked and pump gas KILLS valves and seats...........look at the margin on your valves after a few years of pump gas and it looks like the crater of the moon. Good luck.

Congrats, I'd be interested in seeing your victor numbers when you get them

I'll (re)post my flow #s along w/ the results from Dwayne's bench when I get them. IIRC, he said the Stage VIs maxed at 306 on his where on mine I've seen up to 310-311, depending upon the port. The Victors on my bench hit an even 350 and apparently did virtually the same on his.

Pictures? Yeah, I'll take some shots when I have a chance. Warning: my last pictures didn't turn out very well, probably due to crappy lighting where I was taking them.

As far as the roller swap, it's such a "little" street roller that I'm not really sure what the net benefit is going to be over the old solid flat-tappet cam. I'll know more about what the actual change is when I mock everything up and measure the valve lift curves.

FT: 298 @ .20"; 266 @ .050"; 178 @ .200"; .3975" lobe; .596" (1.5), .576" (net .020" lash); 108 LSA + 4

SR: 298/304 @ .015", 261/267 @ .050"; 181/187 @ .200"; .392"/.398" lobe; .627"/.597" (1.6/1.5) , .609"/.581" (net .016" lash); 108 LSA + 2

I ran the flat-tappet w/ 1.5s and only saw about 5 HP more at peak when we tested 1.6s on the intakes, too. The roller is going to be set up w/ 1.6 / 1.5 from the start, since I only have offset intake rockers for the Victors in 1.6 anyway.

I'm thinking that engine should pick up some significant power with the 40+ cfm as well as the roller. The roller numbers look the same but if you plotted out the area under the curve there is a difference. Check the duration at .300 or .350 lobe lift and I think you'll see the roller has 10 more degrees than the flat tappet. Combine that with the extra mid-range flow on the Victor heads and you should notice the power difference.

Are you going to be able to close the hood once you have those Victor heads on there? The intake ports on those things are really jacked up in the air.

Let me put it like this: I won't be able to run the Victor 440 intake that I bought from GregZ... that I sold you... that you sold back to me.... anymore.

The Victor heads push the intake up about .4" higher than my Stage VIs do w/ their RB intake spacers bolted up. I'm having to rework my old MP M1 RB to match the Victor heads' larger ports because the M1 is lower than the Victor 440 intake. I used to run the M1 w/ a 1" spacer, but will have to limit my spacer options to 1/2" now.

The MP 337 intake is nice and low but it has the MW ports. I like the 337 intake, it really works pretty well. It also fits nice on the Victor heads with some fabricated end rails.

That's why I didn't look into one seriously. I figured it would hurt the torque along w/ the larger "semi-MW" CNC Victor runners, kind of like the dedicated Stage VI intake did on the standard-port Stage VIs. If I was carrying 50 more cubes, it would be worth checking out.

I'll provide the full lift curves when I've been able to measure everything once mocked up. I know there will be differences, just not sure of how much.

FWIW, even though I bought that cam from you w/ the intent of running it w/ the Stage VIs, Dwayne thinks it's a pretty good choice for the Victors, too. I'd assume he'd spec something different if I was buying a new cam for those heads, but he thinks it's a good "proof of concept" cam since I have it already.

Nice clean fresh parts. Ya' gotta love that.
And another 40 cfm of head flow will be very noticable. The added rpm will go nice with a roller cam.

I think that cam will be a nice fit for your combination. Given plenty of time and money I'm sure an even better one could be found. But time and money are usually hard to come by.

seems like a no brainer?

Looking forward to a track report, Cap'n.

Me, too. I'm sure it'll go somewhere in the 9.6s to 9.8s, depending upon the weather.
