Do you get the flashing "check engine" light or icon when this happens? This indicates the 'puter has "set" a trouble code. If you do not get this flashing light, did you buy the car new? (The light might have been dis-abled). If you get the flashing light, then disconnect the battery for about 10-15 seconds, it drops the code. You may have to find a buddy with a trailer or roll back and call him the next time it dies and if the trouble code is flashing, have him come and pick it up then take it to get the trouble code read. If you are not getting the flashing light, I would still take it to one of the freeebie places, AutoZone/Advance etc and get them to see if there is a code set. If you did not buy the car new, you may get an intersting response when trying to read the trouble codes. Like a sensor might be by-passed. Just my $0.02. Good luck.
