I need a new Cat. converter for my 96 Dakota..for months at low rpm the insides have rattled like crazy. tonight I thought I'd be Mr/ Smart guy and cut the face of the shell off and drop that stuff out. well i did and it was broken in several pieces. I wrapped them in fiberglass and reinserted the pieces and tacked the face back on the case...well the rattle is gone but the exhaust is amazingly loud, I'm wondering what the muffler is doing? (it's fairly new)

Anyways..I guess i just need a new cat. where can i get one and not go bankrupt?

there are cheap ones out there, but they won't last and you'll be in there again.

Mopar uses honeycomb style. They crack and break when they are shocked (driving through deep water, standing water, etc). I think the pellet style would be more durable.
