Is anyone producing a correct woodgrain shiftknob for 68-69 hurst shifters?
All I keep finding are the old repros that are way too dark in color.

I thought bea parts was planning to make this part a while back?

We were going to, I wasn't successful in finding a really good original to copy from. The current supplier of these re-released them so I shelved the idea.

Even if I could find a decent original example, I'm not sure the market could support them. However, I am a glutten for pain, if I had one I would make them.

If you're a glutton for pain, reproduce some C-Body sill plates while you're at it!

Not only is the color/grain not quite right, the 4 speed pattern is molded into the part when it is made, versus being heat melted into the ball as the originals were. I had 2 NOS ones some years back.

Yes on the melted in pattern, i believe you can tell a difference on the bottom where the threaded insert is put in also..........BE&A is that all you need is pics? I currently have 2 NOS willing for pics, not really to lend out.

Was that woodgrain knob used on all 68-69 cars or just B-Body. What did the A-body use?

Late 1968 cars, A & B body, as the earlier 1968 had the Inland shifter until Chrysler realized they were missing the mark with Hurst for marketing. Not to mention the Inland left a lot to be desired for racing.
BTW where is Mike Ross? Kind on thought he would have been back on the offer for a correct knob? Maybe not enough demand to offset the cost?

so does that mean they were woodgrain in late 68? In 1967 did they use white or black?

Black on 66 and 67 inlands, also 68, until the Hurst showed up, than woodgrain. Not positive on month of switch to Hurst, after February I believe. There were complaints/issues with no reverse lockout which was one rumor for the reverse light on the dash in 69 4 speed cars. I will defer to an expert to further elaborate on this issue............

I was one of the guys Mike was talking to about the loan of a NOS woodgrain shifter knob about two years ago, but I was unable to locate the box it it is stored in. The NOS shifter knob is stored with other small NOS items in a small box for use when my A4 Hemi RR finally gets its turn at being restored.

In the last few days I have began looking for the NOS knob again, but I have no idea how long it will take for me to locate it. If I can locate it relatively soon, I will loan it to Mike as long as I get it back undamaged... I may try to get a friend over this weekend to help me search for it.

I also have a NOS black knob (it may even be a new aftermarket piece), also stored away in some box, but I have pictures of it that I took several years ago. The knob was in an unmarked envelope in a box of NS1 NOS parts that I bought from a dealership, and I do not know what the correct application is... anyone know from the pics below?

Anyone know if this one's for a specific Mopar or just a generic vintage piece?
